Micellization of poly(2-(dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate-block-methyl methacrylate) copolymers in aqueous solution

TL;DR: In this paper, a range of water-soluble hydrophilic−hydrophobic diblock copolymers of 2-(dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate and methyl methacelate were shown to form micelles if first dissolved in a nonselective solvent (THF or methanol) and subsequently diluted with water.
Journal ArticleDOI

Living radical polymerization through the use of iniferters: Controlled synthesis of polymers

TL;DR: In this article, some characteristics of photoiniferters of living radical polymerizations with tetraethylthiuram disulphide, benzyl N, N-diethyldithiocarbamate, p -xylylene bis(N, N -diethynectric acid) and tetrakis(N, N -decaramyl) benzene as photoinifiers are described and discussed.

Use of Block Copolymer Stabilizers for the Dispersion Polymerization of Styrene in Alcoholic Media

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of varying stabilizer concentration, copolymer composition, solvent, and reaction temperature on latex particle size was investigated and a maximum particle size of 2.8 μm was found for 1-butanol in a series of alcoholic solvents ranging from methanol to 1-octanol.

Manipulated Electrospun PVA Nanofibers with Inexpensive Salts

TL;DR: In this paper, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy was used to characterize the functionality of PVA nanofibers and investigate the interaction between PVA and inorganic additions.

Statistical Mechanics of Dilute Polymer Solutions. II

TL;DR: New thermodynamic relationships applicable to dilute solutions of heterogeneous high polymers are derived and the function previously given to express the interaction between two polymer molecules of equal size is modified to include chemically similar polymer molecules differing in size.

Relationship of the Second Virial Coefficient to Polymer Chain Dimensions and Interaction Parameters

TL;DR: In this article, a useful approximation for the excluded volume integral for the interaction of a pair of polymer molecules, represented by Gaussian distributions of chain segments about their respective centers of gravity, was found.
