Journal ArticleDOI
Network analysis of persistent complex bereavement disorder in conjugally bereaved adults.
TL;DR: Data from the Changing Lives of Older Couples database is used to identify symptoms central to PCBD, to distinguish the PCBD network from an overlapping but distinct network of depression symptoms, and to examine how previously identified risk factors may contribute to the maintenance or development of PCBD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Supporting Adults Bereaved Through COVID-19: A Rapid Review of the Impact of Previous Pandemics on Grief and Bereavement.
TL;DR: Current focus should include innovative ways to promote connection and adapt rituals while maintaining respect, and strong leadership and coordination between different bereavement organisations is essential to providing successful post-bereavement support.
Journal ArticleDOI
Commentary on the Inclusion of Persistent Complex Bereavement-Related Disorder in DSM-5
TL;DR: It is better to include empirically validated criteria for prolonged grief disorder in DSM-5, possibly expanded with a few symptom criteria that are tapped by the Inventory of Complicated Grief, the most widely used instrument to measure dysfunctional grief.
Journal ArticleDOI
The psychology of the COVID-19 pandemic: A group-level perspective
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined the group-level processes that sustain people's physical and psychological well-being during the COVID-19 pandemic and explored how people cope with prolonged social isolation, distress, and social inequities, as well as how people dealt with the psychological trauma of the disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Attachment Anxiety and Avoidance in Coping with Bereavement: Two Studies
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the role of attachment in coping with the loss of a loved one and found that higher levels of attachment-related anxiety were associated with more prolonged grief symptomatology but avoidance failed to produce a unique effect.

Holly G. Prigerson,Andrew J. Bierhals,Stanislav V. Kasl,Charles F. Reynolds,M. Katherine Shear,Nancy L. Day,Laurel C. Beery,Jason T. Newsom,Selby Jacobs +8 more

Journal ArticleDOI
The varieties of grief experience.
George A. Bonanno,Stacey Kaltman +1 more
TL;DR: Empirical evidence on the longitudinal course, phenomenological features, and possible diagnostic relevance of grief reactions was generally consistent with the DSM-IV's view of bereavement and provided little support for more complicated taxonomies.
