TL;DR: In this paper, a system, method and article of manufacture are provided for collaborative installation management in a network-based supply chain environment, which includes integrated Internet Protocol (IP) telephony services allowing a user of a web application to communicate in an audio fashion in-band without having to pick up another telephone.
Abstract: A system, method and article of manufacture are provided for collaborative installation management in a network-based supply chain environment. According to an embodiment of the invention, telephone calls, data and other multimedia information are routed through a network system which includes transfer of information across the internet utilizing telephony routing information and internet protocol address information. The system includes integrated Internet Protocol (IP) telephony services allowing a user of a web application to communicate in an audio fashion in-band without having to pick up another telephone. Users can click a button and go to a call center through the network using IP telephony. The system invokes an IP telephony session simultaneously with the data session, and uses an active directory lookup whenever a user uses the system. Users include service providers and manufacturers utilizing the network-based supply chain environment.

TL;DR: An execution architecture, a development architecture and an operations architecture for a netcentric computing system are described in this paper, where the purpose of the development environment is to support the tasks involved in the analysis, design, construction and maintenance of business systems, as well as the associated management processes.
Abstract: An execution architecture, a development architecture and an operations architecture for a netcentric computing system. The execution architecture contains common, run-time services required when an application executes in the netcentric computing system. The development architecture is the production environment for one or several systems development projects as well as for maintenance efforts. The purpose of the development environment is to support the tasks involved in the analysis, design, construction, and maintenance of business systems, as well as the associated management processes. It is important to note that the environment should adequately support all the development tasks, not just the code/compile/test/debug cycle. The operations architecture is a combination of tools and support services required to keep a production system up and running efficiently.

TL;DR: In this article, a system, method, and article of manufacture are provided for technology sharing during demand and supply planning in a network-based supply chain environment, and steps included are providing locator and mapping capabilities utilizing the network.
Abstract: A system, method, and article of manufacture are provided for technology sharing during demand and supply planning in a network-based supply chain environment. Steps included are providing locator and mapping capabilities utilizing the network. Technology that includes streaming audio, stereo audio and video data is also shared utilizing the network. Encryption capabilities for the technology are also included. Further, searching capabilities are provided utilizing the network in addition to logging events and passive user profiling. The event logging includes logging network operations. User profile data is automatically received and stored. User profile data includes user identity, state, preferences and interests. User profile data is also automatically exported to an active profile manager which automatically adds additional user profile data. Additional user profile data includes information related to whether the user is a service provider or a manufacturer and the location of user.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present methods, systems, and configured storage media for discovering software updates, discovering if a given computer can use the software update, and then updating the computers with the software as needed automatically across a network without storing the updates on an intermediate machine within the network.
Abstract: Methods, systems, and configured storage media are provided for discovering software updates, discovering if a given computer can use the software update, and then updating the computers with the software as needed automatically across a network without storing the updates on an intermediate machine within the network. Furthermore, when a failure is detected, the rollout is stopped and the software can be automatically removed from those computers that already were updated. The software update can be stored originally at an address that is inaccessible through the network firewall by intermediately uploading the software update to an update computer which is not a part of the network but has access through the firewall, which is then used to distribute the update.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe a system where music is blanket transmitted via satellite downlink transmission to each customer's computer-based user station, and an antipiracy "ID tag" is woven into the recorded music so that any illegal copies therefrom may be traced to the purchase transaction.
Abstract: Music is blanket transmitted (for example, via satellite downlink transmission) to each customer's computer-based user station. Customers preselect from a list of available music in advance using an interactive screen selector, and pay only for music that they choose to have recorded for unlimited playback, for example, by a “CD burner”. An antipiracy “ID tag” is woven into the recorded music so that any illegal copies therefrom may be traced to the purchase transaction. Music is transmitted on a fixed schedule or through an active scheduling process that monitors music requests from all or a subset of satellite receivers and adjust scheduling according to demand for various CD's. Receivers store selections that are likely to be preferred by a specific customer. In those instances where weather conditions, motion atmospheric layers or dish obstructions result in data loss, the system downloads the next transmission of the requested CD and uses both transmissions to produce a “good copy”. In conjunction with the blanket transmission of more popular music, an automated CD manufacturing facility may be provided to manufacture CD's that are not frequently requested and distribute them by ground transportation.

TL;DR: A decision support system for the management of an agile supply chain that provides an architecture including a server side and a client side is presented in this paper, where decision frames provide a view into supply chain and integrate analytical models responsive to the view point of a business process such as demand management.
Abstract: A decision support system for the management of an agile supply chain that provides an architecture including a server side and a client side. The server side includes a decision support system database that interfaces with model engine that performs analysis of the data to support planning decisions. The server side includes a server manager that coordinates requests for service and information. The client side includes decision frames that present the various view points available in the system to the users. A frame manager coordinates the requests from decision support frames to access the needed data and models. The decision support frames provide a view into supply chain and integrate analytical models responsive to the view point of a business process such as demand management. The frames include a supply management frame, a demand management frame, a vendor managed replenishment frame, a Planning, Sales and Inventory planning frame and a distribution network design frame. The model engine includes a component procurement policy development module, a finished goods distribution network design module, an aggregate production planning module, a finished goods inventory management module, a sales forecasting and planning module, a market data analysis module, a vendor managed replenishment module and various utilities such as generic linear programming solvers and statistical analysis routines. The system also includes a demand and supply reconciliation process reconciling production, sales and inventory and reconciling a top-down forecast with a bottom-up forecast where an expert based model is used for the bottom-up forecast. A capacity planning process determines the feasibility of a capacity plan responsive to supply constraints. A vendor managed replenishment process plans inventory replenishment analysis and periods responsive to predicted sales and supply constraints. A scenario management process associated with all frames enables the user to analyze different hypothetical scenarios for comparison of business plans. The frame manager includes a system integrator and a functional integrator. A database management system manages the supply and maintenance of information needed by the modeling processes through the frame manager. A domain management process limits data available to said frames responsive to a user selection.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe methods and systems that automatically download computer software components from a computer network like the Internet or an intranet, which can be used to provide dynamic or interactive multimedia components in HTML documents with HTML tags.
Abstract: Methods and systems automatically download computer software components from a computer network like the Internet or an intranet. The methods and systems can be used to provide dynamic or interactive multimedia components in HTML documents with HTML tags. The HTML tags can contain parameters including uniform resource locators (URLs) which reference dynamic or interactive multimedia components on remote computers. Network browsers and other applications can obtain computer software components from a computer network like the Internet or an intranet in a uniform, portable, architecture-neutral, robust manner. The computer software components obtained can be used to provide a variety of new multimedia functionality to an application program.
