TL;DR: A qualitative interview study is conducted to describe the MM landscape, with an emphasis on eliciting policy recommendations for the field from a broad range of stakeholders in MM and health care.
Abstract: Scientific support about the concept of using molecular data for risk stratification and tailoring health-care interventions to the individual--a strategy broadly defined as molecular medicine (MM)--is accumulating. Molecular-based health-care technologies are beginning to enter clinical practice, but their use has revealed many scientific, economic, and organizational barriers to the effective delivery of targeted health care. We conducted a qualitative interview study to describe the MM landscape, with an emphasis on eliciting policy recommendations for the field from a broad range of stakeholders in MM and health care. Molecular medicine has widespread support but will require changes in how molecular-based technologies are evaluated, how health care is financed and delivered, and how clinicians and consumers are trained and prepared for its use. In particular, researchers and developers need to become active participants in a variety of clinical integration strategies to realize the promise of MM.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors explored the experiences of men caring for spouses suffering from dementia from a salutogenic perspective, and found that factors facilitating caregiver coping included support from their daughters, their ability to find meaning and satisfaction within the context of the care-giving task, and successful utilization of active, problem-focused coping strategies.
Abstract: The aim of this study was to explore the experiences of men caring for spouses suffering from dementia from a salutogenic perspective. The study focused on the experiences of ten men caring for a spouse with dementia. Primarily qualitative analysing methods were utilized. Data were obtained from semi-structured interviews conducted with male spouses of patients with dementia. An orientational analysis approach was followed and the data was analysed in terms of Antonovsky's sense of coherence construct. Qualitative findings were compared to participant responses to quantitative measures. Stressors most often reported were cognitive impairment, behaviour problems, a lack of free-time, erosion of the relationship, family conflict and financial concerns. Factors facilitating caregiver coping included support from their daughters, their ability to find meaning and satisfaction within the context of the care-giving task, and the successful utilization of active, problem-focused coping strategies. Men generally ...

TL;DR: Findings from this study suggest a holistic approach to aphasia management is necessary with direct intervention efforts consistent with the broader context of an individual’s everyday life.
Abstract: Background: Studies exploring the concept of living successfully with aphasia have advanced the understanding of positive adaptive factors, which may inform clinical interventions provided to people with aphasia. Adaptation over time has been identified as a critical component of living successfully with aphasia. Yet, the experiences of individuals with aphasia and factors they perceive to influence living successfully over time remain ill-described. Longitudinal research might add an important perspective to existing literature in the area of living successfully with aphasia and provide clarification regarding the needs of people with aphasia over time.Aims: To describe the insider’s perspective of what is important to living successfully with aphasia and changes that occur throughout the first year post-stroke.Methods & Procedures: A qualitative, prospective longitudinal design was used. Fifteen participants took part in semistructured interviews at four time points: 3, 6, 9, and 12 months post-stroke. ...

Abstract: This article discusses the cultural ideology that permeates our society surrounding female body image by focusing specifically on socially constructed ideals of beauty and identity as they are represented in media texts—those of the makeover programs, A Makeover Story, What Not to Wear, and Extreme Makeover. For this study, we conducted textual analyses of selected episodes of each of these programs to examine the ideological impact of patriarchy, particularly as it relates to female body image.
