TL;DR: An approach to measuring social innovation emerges from the development of a theoretically grounded measurement model and a systematic review of 30 established measurement approaches, which strengthens the link between theory and empirical phenomena.
Abstract: This article presents an approach to measuring social innovation. Indicators emerge from: (1) the development of a theoretically grounded measurement model, (2) a systematic review of 30 established measurement approaches. The article serves three purposes: First, it develops the conceptual understanding for social innovation. Second, through operationalization it strengthens the link between theory and empirical phenomena. Third, it paves ground for national or regional measurement of social innovation and is thus, relevant to policy making.

TL;DR: This article analyzed how anti-plastic pollution social entrepreneurs use multimodal (visual and verbal) interactions to influence their targets and promote their cause, and found that these social entrepreneurs used what they call emotion-symbolic work, which involved using visuals and words to elicit negative emotions through moral shock, and then transforming those emotions into emotional energy for enactment.
Abstract: We know little about how social entrepreneurs try to induce enactment of their cause, especially when this cause is difficult to embrace. Through a longitudinal study, we analyze how anti-plastic pollution social entrepreneurs use multimodal (visual and verbal) interactions to influence their targets and promote their cause. Our findings reveal that these social entrepreneurs used what we call emotion-symbolic work, which involved using visuals and words to elicit negative emotions through moral shock, and then transforming those emotions into emotional energy for enactment. The emotional transformation process entailed connecting target actors to a cause, a collective identity and the social entrepreneurs themselves. The exploration of emotion-symbolic work offers new ways of seeing by emphasizing the use of multimodal interactions to affect emotions in efforts to influence target actors to enact a cause.

TL;DR: Teacher mentors of first-year teachers as discussed by the authors provided insight into those practices they viewed as essential for their success in the mentoring role, and they were queried about teacher involvement/support, staff development, administrative support and resource materials.
Abstract: Teacher mentors of first‐year teachers provided insight into those practices they viewed as essential for their success in the mentoring role. Specifically, they were queried about teacher involvement/support, staff development, administrative support and resource materials. Almost all of the mentor teachers believed a teacher mentoring program that had well‐defined goals was necessary for retaining beginning teachers. Some of the mentor teachers considered that staff development that provided strategies to serve students in special populations better was important for retaining beginning teachers. Mentors indicated that the most difficult parts of their duties involved scheduling conflicts with the mentee, receiving little support from administration (e.g., limited release time to meet with beginning teachers), and having no guidelines or preparation for what they were expected to do. Additional comments made by mentors consisted of the need for more time for new teachers to be able to reflect upon their...
