TLDR
The author develops all of the tools necessary for understanding important results in quantum information theory, including capacity theorems for classical, entanglement-assisted, private and quantum communication.Abstract:
Finally, here is a modern, self-contained text on quantum information theory suitable for graduate-level courses. Developing the subject 'from the ground up' it covers classical results as well as major advances of the past decade. Beginning with an extensive overview of classical information theory suitable for the non-expert, the author then turns his attention to quantum mechanics for quantum information theory, and the important protocols of teleportation, super-dense coding and entanglement distribution. He develops all of the tools necessary for understanding important results in quantum information theory, including capacity theorems for classical, entanglement-assisted, private and quantum communication. The book also covers important recent developments such as superadditivity of private, coherent and Holevo information, and the superactivation of quantum capacity. This book will be warmly welcomed by the upcoming generation of quantum information theorists and the already established community of classical information theorists.read more

The Theory of Quantum Information
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a self-contained book on the theory of quantum information focusing on precise mathematical formulations and proofs of fundamental facts that form the foundation of the subject.
Journal ArticleDOI
Operational Resource Theory of Coherence.
TL;DR: An operational theory of coherence (or of superposition) in quantum systems is established, by focusing on the optimal rate of performance of certain tasks, by demonstrating that the coherence theory is generically an irreversible theory by a simple criterion that completely characterizes all reversible states.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quantum resource theories
Eric Chitambar,Gilad Gour +1 more
TL;DR: This paper introduced a new development in theoretical quantum physics, the ''resource-theoretic'' point of view, which aims to be closely linked to experiment, and to state exactly what result you can hope to achieve for what expenditure of effort in the laboratory.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quantum non-Markovianity: characterization, quantification and detection
TL;DR: A comprehensive and up-to-date review of the concept of quantum non-Markovianity, a central theme in the theory of open quantum systems, is presented and a detailed comparison with other definitions presented in the literature is provided.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quantum Thermodynamics
Sai Vinjanampathy,Janet Anders +1 more
TL;DR: Quantum thermodynamics is an emerging research field aiming to extend standard thermodynamics and non-equilibrium statistical physics to ensembles of sizes well below the thermodynamic limit.

A mathematical theory of communication
TL;DR: This final installment of the paper considers the case where the signals or the messages or both are continuously variable, in contrast with the discrete nature assumed until now.

Elements of information theory
Thomas M. Cover,Joy A. Thomas +1 more
TL;DR: The author examines the role of entropy, inequality, and randomness in the design of codes and the construction of codes in the rapidly changing environment.

Convex Optimization
Stephen Boyd,Lieven Vandenberghe +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the focus is on recognizing convex optimization problems and then finding the most appropriate technique for solving them, and a comprehensive introduction to the subject is given. But the focus of this book is not on the optimization problem itself, but on the problem of finding the appropriate technique to solve it.
Book
Quantum Computation and Quantum Information
TL;DR: In this article, the quantum Fourier transform and its application in quantum information theory is discussed, and distance measures for quantum information are defined. And quantum error-correction and entropy and information are discussed.
