Graphene is the two-dimensional building block for carbon allotropes of every other dimensionality We show that its electronic structure is captured in its Raman spectrum that clearly evolves with the number of layers The D peak second order changes in shape, width, and position for an increasing number of layers, reflecting the change in the electron bands via a double resonant Raman process The G peak slightly down-shifts This allows unambiguous, high-throughput, nondestructive identification of graphene layers, which is critically lacking in this emerging research arearead more

Heat conduction in graphene: experimental study and theoretical interpretation
TL;DR: In this paper, the results of an experimental investigation of heat conduction in suspended graphene and offer a theoretical interpretation of its extremely high thermal conductivity were presented. But the experimental results were limited to the lateral dimensions of the flakes and the measured values were in the range of ~3000?5300?W?mK?1 near room temperature.

Epitaxial heterostructures of ultrathin topological insulator nanoplate and graphene.
TL;DR: The results suggest an approach for the synthesis of epitaxial heterostructures that consist of an ultrathin topological insulator and graphene, which may be a new direction for electronic and spintronic applications.
