Joon-Phil Choi,Gi-Hun Shin,Sangsun Yang,Dong-Yeol Yang,Jai-Sung Lee,Mathieu Brochu,Ji-Hun Yu +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the densification behavior and microstructural development of Inconel 718 parts fabricated by selective laser melting (SLM) were investigated with variation of the applied laser scanning speed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Experimental and numerical investigation of microstructure and mechanical behavior of titanium/steel interfaces prepared by explosive welding
TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented a systematic study of structure and mechanical behavior of Ti/Fe explosive-bonded interfaces and simulated the transient fluid-like behavior at the bonding zone using Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamic (SPH) numerical method.

Structural properties of Ti/Al clads manufactured by explosive welding and annealing
D.M. Fronczek,Joanna Wojewoda-Budka,Robert Chulist,Anna Sypień,Anna Korneva,Zygmunt Szulc,N. Schell,Paweł Zięba +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the microstructure evolution of the Al/Ti interface at 825 K and various annealing time was examined, and the growth kinetics showed four stages: incubation period (up to 1.5h), the growth govern by the chemical reaction (1.5-5 h), mixed mechanism of chemical reaction and volume diffusion and finally the volume diffusion growth (36-100 h).

Weldability window and the effect of interface morphology on the properties of Al/Cu/Al laminated composites fabricated by explosive welding
TL;DR: In this article, the weldability criteria which should be met to achieve good welds were calculated for aluminum-copper joints for different morphologies for welding interface (straight, wavy and melted layer) were obtained with changing welding parameters.

Experimental investigation of explosive welding of cp-titanium/AISI 304 stainless steel
TL;DR: In this article, an analytical calculation for determination of weldability domain or welding window is presented, where the welding conditions are tailored through parallel geometry route with different explosive loads and the study is also conducted to consider the effects of explosive loading on the bonding interface and the characterization of explosive welding experiments carried out under different conditions.

The Initial Velocities of Fragments from Bombs, Shell and Grenades,
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the contribution to the total kinetic energy made by the detonation of unit mass of explosive is independent of the size of the projectile and that the explosion gases have actually more kinetic energy than the fragments.
Journal ArticleDOI
Joining of titanium/stainless steel by explosive welding and effect on interface
TL;DR: In this article, stainless steel-titanium plates were joined explosively employing oblique geometry route at different explosive ratios and the bonding was investigated using optical and scanning electron microscopy and tensile-shearing, bending, hardness and corrosion tests were carried out.
Journal ArticleDOI
Examination of copper/stainless steel joints formed by explosive welding
TL;DR: In this paper, the bonding ability of copper and steel with explosion welding was investigated using different ratios of explosive and different stand-off distance, and it was found that, hardness of bonding interface and outer face of plates were increased because of deformation that was originating from impact the effect.
Journal ArticleDOI
Numerical and experimental studies of the mechanism of the wavy interface formations in explosive/impact welding
TL;DR: In this article, a finite difference engineering package was used to model the oblique impact of a thin flyer plate on a relatively thick base, and the results were validated by data from carefully controlled experiments using a pneumatic gun.
