TLDR
An account of the results of treatment of cancer of the larynx is given employing the clinical staging presented by a committee member of the International Union Against Cancer, and it is suggested that this system of staging may be valuable and may permit a better comparison of results and selection of treatment methods.

Radiotherapy of early glottic cancer--I.

TL;DR: A detailed retrospective analysis of the results of treatment of 378 patients with early glottic cancer seen at the Princess Margaret Hospital from 1965-1974 is presented, finding the local recurrence rate after radiotherapy has been reduced from 18 to 9% by increasing the size of the treatment volume while retaining the same dose.

Can pretreatment computed tomography predict local control in T3 squamous cell carcinoma of the glottic larynx treated with definitive radiotherapy

TL;DR: Pretreatment CT can stratify patients with T3 glottic carcinoma into groups more or less likely to be locally controlled with definitive RT; the local control rate for these tumors can be improved using a CT-based tumor profile.

T3 glottic cancer: An analysis of dose time-volume factors

TL;DR: It is concluded that radical radiotherapy with surgery for salvage is a good method of treatment for T4 glottic cancer, particularly in those patients who do not have hypopharyngeal involvement and that a minimum dose of 1700 ret is necessary for adequate control of tumor.

Impact of cartilage invasion on treatment and prognosis of laryngeal cancer.

TL;DR: Based on currently accepted criteria, CT appears to be more specific in detecting neoplastic cartilage invasion than MRI, but tends to underestimate invasion and may therefore result in undertreatment.

The Pathology and Management of Subglottic Cancer

TL;DR: Thompson and Colledge-in their monograph on "Cancer of the Larynx" adopted proposals defining subglottic cancers as "those arising on the inner or under surface of the vocal cord, or in the sub glottic area, and chiefly in the anterior half of the region."

Study of postlaryngectomy stomal recurrence

TL;DR: The purpose in this paper is to analyze the experience with recurrence in the peristomal region, to define certain factors of significance in its etiology, and to suggest possible preventive measures.

Indications for radical surgery, partial surgery, radiotherapy and combined surgery and radiotherapy for cancer of the larynx and hypopharynx.

TL;DR: Survival statistics on 525 patients with cancer of the pyriform sinus, treated solely by radiotherapy and 13 in whom this therapy was combined with surgery, were analyzed with Ennuyer; they had been irradiated at the Curie Foundation from 1921 to 1946.

Place of Radiotherapy in Treatment of Cancer of the Larynx

- 10 Jun 1961 -
TL;DR: The finding in the acute phase of the disease-that hormone therapy in the dosage the authors have used does not significantly affect cardiac status in the majority of cases -has been borne out by the subsequent course at followup, and the value of prophylaxis is shown.

Dose-Time-Volume Relationship in Squamous-Cell Carcinoma of the Larynx

TL;DR: A study of the literature discloses that, at least in carcinoma of the larynx, more emphasis has been given to the time factor than to the volume factor, which is second only to preservation of a normal voice in the management of squamous carcinoma.
