In this paper, a low-order autoregressive (AR) model is used to model the correlation properties of the sea clutter in terms of power spectrum, while its amplitude can be modelled using the K-distribution.
Abstract
In the context of target detection by surface radars, the paper presents a new technique for modelling and simulating the sea clutter. This technique was derived from an analysis of real-life data obtained with an S-band radar. The study on experimental measurements has shown that the correlation properties, in terms of power spectrum, of the sea clutter can be well described by means of a low order autoregressive (AR) model, while its amplitude can be modelled in using the K-distribution. A procedure for simulating sea clutter with an AR model combined with a K amplitude distribution, is proposed and is tested by statistical tests and a comparison with real sea clutter data.

Robust Burg estimation of radar scatter matrix for autoregressive structured SIRV based on Fréchet medians

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors address the estimation of the scatter matrix of a scale mixture of Gaussian stationary autoregressive (AR) vectors, which is equivalent to consider a structured scatter matrix for a spherically invariant random vector whose structure comes from an AR modelisation.

Robust Burg Estimation of Radar Scatter Matrix for Autoregressive structured SIRV based on Fr\'echet medians

TL;DR: This work addresses the estimation of the scatter matrix of a scale mixture of Gaussian stationary autoregressive vectors and studies several approaches of robust modification of the introduced Burg algorithms, based on Fr\'echet medians defined for the Euclidean or the Poincar\'e metric in presence of outliers or contaminating distributions.

Sea Clutter Texture Estimation: Exploiting Decorrelation and Cyclostationarity

TL;DR: The texture spectrum is modeled as an autoregressive (AR) process, while the texture range profile within one pulse repetition interval (PRI) is identified by combining the AR estimation of the sea clutter sample auto-covariance with the empirical orthogonal functions (EOF) analysis.

Analysis of high resolution land clutter using an X-band radar

TL;DR: In this article, the amplitude probability distribution function (PDF) was used to fit the amplitude PDF to different distributions using the Method of Moments (MoM) and applying the Kullback-Leibler Divergence test to assess the accuracy of the PDF fittings.

Modelling and simulation of non-Rayleigh radar clutter

TL;DR: Modelling the clutter as a compound Gaussian or a spherically invariant random process allows a complete specification of the clutter suitable for use in radar design and lends itself readily to computer simulation procedures.

Classification of radar clutter using neural networks

Correlated K-distributed Clutter Models

TL;DR: The theoretical results for a double coherence length surface model are compared with overland images obtained with the RSRE X -band synthetic-aperture radar (SAR) processor and it is demonstrated that the model provides a reasonable representation of the dependence of the real image on the system resolution.

K-distributed coherent sea clutter

C.J. Baker
TL;DR: In this article, the properties of coherently detected high-range-resolution radar sea clutter are examined with reference to those properties observed non-coherently, and it is shown how the nonGaussian characteristics of non-Coherently detected sea clutter manifest themselves in the coherent domain and how these characteristics require a thorough understanding in order to optimise any detection processing, especially if integration techniques are utilized.
