TL;DR: A fuzzy sliding-mode controller is developed to realize reachability of a predefined switching surface and desirable sliding motion and sufficient conditions for stochastic stability of the obtained sliding mode dynamics is developed in the sense of generally uncertain transition rates.
Abstract: This paper is focused on the event-triggered fuzzy sliding-mode control of networked control systems regulated by semi-Markov process. First, through movement-decomposition method, the networked control system is transformed into two lower-order subsystems. Then, an event-triggered scheme based on a delay system model approach is proposed in designing the switching surface and obtaining the sliding mode dynamics. Furthermore, a fuzzy sliding-mode controller is developed to realize reachability of a predefined switching surface and desirable sliding motion. Moreover, in terms of linear matrix inequality method, sufficient conditions for stochastic stability of the obtained sliding mode dynamics is developed in the sense of generally uncertain transition rates. Finally, the applicability of the proposed results are verified numerically on the single-link robot arm system.

TL;DR: Using the slow-state feedback control method, sufficient conditions to ensure the global uniform exponential stability of the closed-loop PDT SPSSs are derived and a preferable decoupling method deriving the mode-dependent controller gains are given for the first time.
Abstract: In this paper, a class of discrete-time singularly perturbed switched systems $\left ({\text {SPSSs}}\right) $ with persistent dwell-time $\left ({\text {PDT}}\right)$ switching law is firstly proposed. Using the slow-state feedback control method, sufficient conditions to ensure the global uniform exponential stability of the closed-loop PDT SPSSs are derived. Based on the aforementioned conditions, the analyses of the extended dissipative performance of the closed-loop PDT SPSSs and a preferable decoupling method deriving the mode-dependent controller gains are given for the first time. Finally, the potential practicability of the method is verified by a purely numerical example and a tunnel diode circuit model, and a convex optimization method calculating the upper bound of the singular perturbation parameter is provided.

TL;DR: To guarantee that the MJS is stochastically stable, an event-based asynchronous controller is designed and a mode-dependent event-triggered mechanism (ETM) is proposed to reduce the burden of data transmission.
Abstract: This paper is concerned with event-based $ {\mathcal {H}}_{ {\infty }}$ control for a class of networked Markov jump systems (MJSs) with missing measurements. The phenomenon of asynchronism occurs in both the controller and the actuator-failure model, which is estimated by the hidden Markov model, is taken into consideration. In addition, to reduce the burden of data transmission, a mode-dependent event-triggered mechanism (ETM) is proposed. Together with ETM, a network-induced delay is introduced. Subsequently, to guarantee that the MJS is stochastically stable, an event-based asynchronous controller is designed. Finally, to reveal the effectiveness of the proposed method, a simulation example of pulse width-modulation-driven boost converter is considered.

TL;DR: The problem of sliding-mode fault-tolerant control is addressed for a class of uncertain nonlinear systems with distributed delays and parameter perturbations by using interval type-2 Takagi–Sugeno (T–S) fuzzy models, of which uncertain parameters and distributed state delays are represented in a unifiedtype-2 fuzzy framework.

TL;DR: In this paper , the sliding mode control issue for a class of discrete-time Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy networked singularly perturbed systems via an observer-based technique is investigated, and a logarithmic quantizer and a weighted try-once-discard protocol are synthesized.
Abstract: In this article, the sliding mode control issue is investigated for a class of discrete-time Takagi–Sugeno fuzzy networked singularly perturbed systems via an observer-based technique. Moreover, to process the measurement output and schedule the transmission sequence for relieving the communication burden, a logarithmic quantizer and a weighted try-once-discard protocol are synthesized, which can further improve the network bandwidth utilization in networked control systems. Based on the fuzzy observer states, a novel fuzzy sliding surface is established by considering the singularly perturbed parameter properly, and we endeavor to synthesize a sliding mode control law such that the reachability of the prescribed sliding surface could be guaranteed. In addition, by virtue of the convex optimization theory and Lyapunov approach, sufficient conditions are developed to guarantee the asymptotic stability of the sliding mode dynamics as well as the error system with an expected $H_{\infty }$ performance. Finally, a verification example is presented to illustrate the feasibility and effectivity of the proposed method.

TL;DR: The fault detection filtering problem is solved for nonlinear switched stochastic system in the T-S fuzzy framework and the fuzzy-parameter-dependent fault detection filters are designed that guarantee the resulted error system to be mean-square exponential stable with a weighted H∞ error performance.
Abstract: In this note, the fault detection filtering problem is solved for nonlinear switched stochastic system in the T-S fuzzy framework. Our attention is concentrated on the construction of a robust fault detection technique to the nonlinear switched system with Brownian motion. Based on observer-based fault detection fuzzy filter as a residual generator, the proposed fault detection is formulated as a fuzzy filtering problem. By the utilization of the average dwell time technique and the piecewise Lyapunov function technique, the fuzzy-parameter-dependent fault detection filters are designed that guarantee the resulted error system to be mean-square exponential stable with a weighted ${\mathcal H}_{\infty}$ error performance. Then, the corresponding solvability condition for the fault detection fuzzy filter is also established by the linearization procedure technique. Finally, simulation has been presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed fault detection technique.

TL;DR: A novel event-triggered control (ETC) strategy for a class of nonlinear feedback systems is proposed that can simultaneously guarantee a finite Lp-gain and a strictly positive lower bound on the inter-event times.
Abstract: Networked control systems are often subject to limited communication resources. By only communicating output measurements when needed, event-triggered control is an adequate method to reduce the usage of communication resources while retaining desired closed-loop performance. In this work, a novel event-triggered control (ETC) strategy for a class of nonlinear feedback systems is proposed that can simultaneously guarantee a finite $\mathcal{L}_{p}$ - gain and a strictly positive lower bound on the inter-event times. The new ETC scheme can be synthesized in an output-based and/or decentralized form, takes the specific medium access protocols into account, and is robust to (variable) transmission delays by design. Interestingly, in contrast with the majority of existing event-generators that only use static conditions, the newly proposed event-triggering conditions are based on dynamic elements, which has several advantages including larger average inter-event times. The developed theory leads to families of event-triggered controllers that correspond to different tradeoffs between (minimum and average) inter-event times, maximum allowable delays and $\mathcal{L}_{p}$ - gains. A linear and a nonlinear numerical example will illustrate all the benefits of this new dynamic ETC scheme.

TL;DR: This paper studies the load frequency control for power systems with communication delays via an event-triggered control method to reduce the amount of communications required and develops a new model of the LFC scheme with delays.
Abstract: This paper studies the load frequency control (LFC) for power systems with communication delays via an event-triggered control method to reduce the amount of communications required. The effect of the load disturbances on the augmented output is defined as a robust performance index of the augmented LFC scheme. By utilizing a time-delayed system design approach, a new model of the LFC scheme with delays is formulated, where the communication delays and event-triggered control are integrated for the LFC scheme. Based on the Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional method, the criteria for the event-triggered stability analysis and control synthesis of the LFC scheme are derived. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by simulation studies.
