Journal ArticleDOI
Oxygenation-Controlled Collective Dynamics in Aquatic Worm Blobs.
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that internal mechanical stress is generated when worm blobs are exposed to high DO levels, allowing them to be physically lifted off from the bottom of a conical container using a serrated endpiece.

Journal ArticleDOI
Odorant-selective genes and neurons mediate olfaction in C. elegans
TL;DR: Through laser ablation, chemosensory neurons that detect volatile odorants are identified and it is shown that the nematode C. elegans might have senses that correspond to smell and taste, respectively.

The formation of vegetable mould through the action of worms, with observations on their habits
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe the role of worms in the denudation of the land and the amount of fine earth brought up by worms to the surface of the earth.

TL;DR: The contribution of earthworms to ecosystem services through pedogenesis, development of soil structure, water regulation, nutrient cycling, primary production, climate regulation, pollution remediation and cultural services is discussed in this article.
