TLDR
In this paper, a study comprehensively assessed soil site suitability for selected winter crops in the coastal saline agro-ecological environment of Sagar Island, India by integrating land limitation and crop suitability evaluation framework of FAO Soil properties (eg texture, pH, organic carbon; SOC, electrical conductivity; EC and available macronutrients- NPK) were obtained through extensive grid-based soil sampling and estimation in the laboratory following standard procedures.

On the Use of Multivariate Analysis and Land Evaluation for Potential Agricultural Development of the Northwestern Coast of Egypt

TL;DR: In this paper, a study aimed to assess the soils of Sidi Barrani and Salloum using multivariate analysis to determine the land capability and crop suitability for potential alternative crop uses, based on using principal component analysis, agglomerative hierarchical cluster analysis (AHC), and the Almagra model of MicroLEIS.

Threat of arsenic contamination, salinity and water pollution in agricultural practices of Sundarban Delta, India, and mitigation strategies

TL;DR: In this paper, a critical appraisal of agricultural practices in the Indian Sundarban deltaic region explores the tripartite problems of arsenic biomagnification, salinity of arable lands and ingress of agrochemical pollutants into the freshwater resources, which endanger the health, livelihood and food security of the rural population inhabiting the delta.

Indexing soil properties through constructing minimum datasets for soil quality assessment of surface and profile soils of intermontane valley (Barak, North East India)

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of land-use systems (agriculture, forest and plantation) on soil quality was assessed using three SQ indices (SQI) models namely additive, weighted additive and nemoro, from total (TDS) and minimum (MDS) datasets in the Barak Valley.

Genomics as a potential tool to unravel the rhizosphere microbiome interactions on plant health.

TL;DR: In this paper, the significance of genomics as a culture-independent molecular tool to understand the diversity and functional significance of the rhizosphere microbiome for sustainable agriculture is discussed, and the role of taxonomical and functional diversity of soil microbiota in understanding soil suppression and part played by the microbial metabolites in the process are analyzed and discussed in the context of 'omics' approach.

Assessment of Soil Capability and Crop Suitability Using Integrated Multivariate and GIS Approaches toward Agricultural Sustainability

TL;DR: In this article , the authors used multivariate analysis (PCA and cluster analysis) to assess soil capability in drylands, Meanwhile the Almagra model of Micro LEIS was used to evaluate land suitability for cultivated crops in the investigated area under the current (CS) and optimal scenario (OS) of soil management with the aim of determining the most appropriate land use based on physiographic units.
