TL;DR: This paper will be interested and study the square waveform stand-alone inverters which are the half bridge and the full-bridge inverter topologies.
Abstract: In stand-alone photovoltaic installations the photovoltaic inverter allows transforming the DC power produced by the photovoltaic modules into an AC power. Depending on the shape of the AC output voltage generated by the inverter there exist three main types of stand-alone PV inverters: pure sine waveform inverters, modulated sine waveform inverters and square waveform inverters and each type of these inverters is also divided into different topologies. In this paper we will be interested and study the square waveform stand-alone inverter topologies which are the half bridge and the full-bridge inverter topologies.

Abstract: A single phase Z source inverter is developed for better voltage boosting and inversion ability suited for photovoltaic power generation systems. The operation of the Z source inverter is described with relevant equations. Simple boost scheme is used for switching actions of the inverter. The performance of the inverter used for photovoltaic applications can be checked with simulation and experimental results, which prove that it has single-stage buck and boost capability and improved reliability.

TL;DR: A Firefly algorithm to minimize the real power losses and to improve the voltage profile is presented and the simulated result shows improved results both in terms of convergence time and reduction of real power loss.
Abstract: This paper presents a Firefly algorithm to minimize the real power losses and to improve the voltage profile. This problem is a nonlinear combinatorial optimization with constraints. Newton-Raphson method of power flow is used in conjunction with Firefly algorithm to obtain the optimal values of the control variables. The control variables for this problem are the Generator bus voltages, Transformer Tap positions and the MVAR at the capacitor Banks. The performance of the proposed algorithm has been demonstrated with the IEEE 30-bus system. The algorithm used in this problem is compared to another nature-inspired metaheuristic algorithm (PSO). The simulated result shows improved results both in terms of convergence time and reduction of real power loss.

TL;DR: A new topology with six switches and two diodes that generates no varying common-mode voltage and exhibits high efficiency is proposed to avoid leakage currents.
Abstract: The recent trend in photovoltaic inverter is to use topologies with the absence of transformers to acquire higher efficiency. This gives very low ground leakage current. After the elimination of transformer in a grid/Load connected Photovoltaic (PV) system, a galvanic connection exists between the grid/Load and the PV array. The different inverter topology that generates no varying common-mode voltage is proposed to avoid leakage currents, this proposes a new topology with six switches and two diodes that generates no varying common-mode voltage and exhibits high efficiency

Abstract: Pattern Search technique can be used to find the solution for the optimization problem. In this paper, pattern search algorithm has been utilized to calculate the switching angles for the cascaded H-bridge inverter with the consideration of minimizing total harmonic distortion. Mathematical equations for the optimization problem were formulated by fourier analysis technique. Lower order harmonics such as third, fifth, seventh, ninth and eleventh order harmonics were taken into account to mitigate the total harmonic distortion of the inverter. Simulations have been carried out for thirteen level, fifteen level and seventeen level cascaded H-bridge inverter using matlab software. Total harmonic distortion of voltage and current for resistive load, resistive-inductive load and motor load were analyzed.

Abstract: This paper presents a new zero voltage transistion (ZVT) bi-directional DC-DCconverter for energy storage system in DC traction. This bidirectional converter can transfers the power flow from low voltage side to high voltage side and viceversa. The conventional hard-switched non-isolated converter improved with the additional auxiliary cell to obtain zero voltage transition for the IGBTs. The main advantages of this topology are reduced the switching losses and improved the efficiency as well. The main aim of this converter is to achieve the operation of zero voltage transition during the commutation of main switches from off to on by utilizing auxiliary cell, which consist active and passive elements. The boost and buck modes of operations are achieved with the zero voltage transistion, which reduce the IGBTs current stresses and switching losses. This paper mainly describes the operation principles and the evaluation of the simulation results with the aid of Matlab simulations. The obtained results were proved the expected assumptions of the theoretical analysis.

TL;DR: In this article, a coupled inductor based single-phase transformerless semi-Z-source inverter topology is presented to lessen the leakage current through PV arrays, high total harmonic distortion (THD) at inverter's output and DC current injection to the grid.
Abstract: Transformer-less inverters are necessary parts for grid-connected renewable energy resources (RERs). Due to its cost effectiveness, downsize and less weight, great attention has been paid to these inverters development. However, these inverters have limitations like the flow of leakage current through PV arrays, high total harmonic distortion (THD) at inverter's output and DC current injection to the grid. This paper presents coupled inductor based single-phase transformerless semi-Z-source inverter topology to lessen those limitations. For the purpose of handling the nonlinearity of the voltage gain of semi Z-source inverter, a nonlinear sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) technique has been employed. A laboratory prototype of the proposed inverter has been constructed. The feasibility of the configuration is ensured based on the mitigated common mode leakage current as well as the substantially lower THD at inverter's output voltage.
