Solutions of anomalous Ward identities in a QCD framework

Abstract: The mixing of the glueball candidate⇌i(1,460) with η and η′ is studied in a chiral symmetry breaking framework. Using the solutions of anomalous Ward identities for flavourU(3)×U(3), we find that the octet-singlet mixing angle is quite large and that our results are consistent with a large glueball component in⇌i(1,460) with moderate gluonium mixing in η and η′. more

Abstract: Positivity conditions on the spectral representation of the pseudoscalar densities are used to obtain bounds on the quark vacuum condensate ratio (ss)/(uu). These relate (ss)/(uu) to the topological susceptibility G(0) of the U(1) sector and appear to favour a smaller value for this quantity than is given by the current-algebra result. more

Abstract: The present status of quantum chromodynamics formalism for inclusive deep-inelastic scattering is reviewed. Leading-order and higher-order asymptotic freedom corrections are discussed in detail. Both the formal language of operator product expansion and renormalization group and the intuitive parton model picture are used. Systematic comparison of asymptotic freedom predictions with deep-inelastic data is presented. Extensions of asymptotic freedom ideas to other processes such as massive production, semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering, e/sup +/e/sup -/ annihilation, and photon--photon scattering are briefly discussed. The importance of higher-order corrections is emphasized. more

Abstract: Exact results are given for the propagators of axial and vector divergences at the two-loop level of dimensionally regularized quantum chromodynamics. We prove that any combination of propagators that vanishes at zero momentum by virtue of Ward identifies is free of subtractions and satisfies a superconvergence relation. Sum rules for other combinations will, however, involve unknown non-perturbative constants. more
