Influence of the web opening shapes on the bending and free vibration responses of castellated steel beams

TL;DR: In this paper , the effect of web opening shapes on displacement, stress values, and free vibration of castellated beams is investigated via the three-dimensional finite element method using ANSYS 22 R1.

Web buckling study of the behaviour and strength of perforated steel beams with different novel web opening shapes

TL;DR: In this paper, an experimental and analytical study on the behavior of perforated steel beams with closely spaced web openings is presented, where the effect of web opening spacing/web opening depth of web-posts was studied to investigate the effective "strut" action of the web-post buckling.
Journal ArticleDOI

Vierendeel Bending Study of Perforated Steel Beams with Various Novel Web Opening Shapes through Nonlinear Finite-Element Analyses

TL;DR: In this paper, a comprehensive finite element (FE) study of four sizes of perforated steel sections with three different sizes of eleven standard and novel non-standard web opening shapes was undertaken, and their primary structural characteristics presented in detail in order to provide a simple design method for general practice.
