Base Pressure Measurements under a Scale Model Stockpile: Effects of Offset Reclaim Channels and Predictive Model Developments

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that a central pressure dip exists under a conical stockpile with an offset reclaim channel, and a method for predicting conical stockpiles base pressure was presented along with an overpressure theory to account for the vertical load instability induced by the onset of material discharge.
Book ChapterDOI

Analytical and Standard Approaches to Silos

TL;DR: In this article, different analytical and standard approaches to silos are described, including a slice method, the German standard DIN 1055 and Eurocode 1, and a calculation algorithm of cohesive arches across hoppers according to Drescher is depicted.

Monitoring of solids behaviour during gravitional flow in rectangular silo

TL;DR: In this article, the authors focused on the application of electrical capacitance tomography (ECT) to gravitational flow of bulk solid in rectangular silo investigation and designed a dedicated 16 electrode sensor to measure the materials distribution inside a vessel.
Book ChapterDOI

Decision Criteria for Pneumatic Conveying and Distribution of Material

TL;DR: A laboratory investigation on the parameters of conveying influencing the material properties is presented and particle size and the feedback on conveying and handling properties is described.
