Journal ArticleDOI
The importance of wall friction between particulate solids and elastomeric belt
TL;DR: In this article, a new experimental methodology is described for the combined measurements of both the static and the kinetic friction between a bulk solid and a conveyor belt, and the experimental results confirm that both static and kinetic angles of friction between the belt surfaces and the coals tested are considerably higher than the recommended maximum inclination angle for belt conveyors.
Book ChapterDOI
Storage and Discharge of Bulk Solids
TL;DR: In this paper, the design of the hopper and all downstream equipment (e.g., feeder) having an influence of the flow in the Hopper is discussed. And the authors propose a solution to avoid flow obstructions or segregation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Development of Load on a Hopper During Filling with Granular Material
TL;DR: In this paper, a finite element analysis using ABAQUS was carried out to investigate the loads on a hopper during filling, and meshes were designed to represent the granular material and the hopper.
Journal ArticleDOI
Powder flow from an intermediate bulk container - Discharge predictions and experimental evaluation.
Håkan Wikström,Johan Remmelgas,Sara Solin,Mariagrazia Marucci,Niklas Sandler,Catherine Boissier,Pirjo Tajarobi +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the flow behavior of selected excipients was comprehensively characterized using a number of techniques including the Hausner ratio/Carr's index, Erweka flow test, FlowPro flow test and wall friction test as well as FT4 powder rheometer experiments.
Journal ArticleDOI
Flow Pattern for a Silo with Two Layers of Materials with Single or Double Openings
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors observed that columniform funnel flow will appear in a silo with a single opening while a uniform flow will occur for a Silo with double opening.
