TLDR
In this article, the authors describe a problem solver called STRIPS that attempts to find a sequence of operators in a spcce of world models to transform a given initial world model into a model in which a given goal formula can be proven to be true.Abstract:
We describe a new problem solver called STRIPS that attempts to find a sequence of operators in a spcce of world models to transform a given initial world model into a model in which a given goal formula can be proven to be true. STRIPS represents a world n,~del as an arbitrary collection of first-order predicate calculus formulas and is designed to work with .models consisting of large numbers of formulas. It employs a resolution theorem prover to answer questions of particular models and uses means-ends analysis to guide it to the desired goal-satisfying model.read more

Intelligent Agents: Theory and Practice
TL;DR: Agent theory is concerned with the question of what an agent is, and the use of mathematical formalisms for representing and reasoning about the properties of agents as discussed by the authors ; agent architectures can be thought of as software engineering models of agents; and agent languages are software systems for programming and experimenting with agents.

Being There: Putting Brain, Body, and World Together Again
TL;DR: Clark as mentioned in this paper argues that the mental has been treated as a realm that is distinct from the body and the world, and argues that a key to understanding brains is to see them as controllers of embodied activity.

The interdisciplinary study of coordination

TL;DR: This survey characterizes an emerging research area, sometimes called coordination theory, that focuses on the interdisciplinary study of coordination, that uses and extends ideas about coordination from disciplines such as computer science, organization theory, operations research, economics, linguistics, and psychology.

Towards a general theory of action and time
TL;DR: In this article, a formalism for reasoning about actions is proposed that is based on a temporal logic, which allows a much wider range of actions to be described than with previous approaches such as the situation calculus.

Toward automatic program synthesis

TL;DR: An elementary outline of the theorem-proving approach to automatic program synthesis is given, without dwelling on technical details, and the relation between the version of the induction rule used and the form of the program constructed is explored.
