Abstract
For over three decades, mass spectrometry has played a central role for the structure elucidation of natural products because it can be used to determine the molecular weights and elemental compositions of substances with a wide range of chemical and physical properties In addition, if the molecular ion is formed with sufficient excitation energy, it will undergo a series of unimolecular reactions to give fragment ions, the relative abundances of which are normally unique to the structure of the molecular ion By understanding the general rules governing the fragmentation reactions, the types of functional groups present, as well as the manner in which they are joined to form a unique molecular structure may be deduced from the mass spectrum

TL;DR: Urinary diphenols, isolated by partition chromatography on Sephadex LH-20, were characterized and identified by profile capillary gas chromatography and electron ionization mass spectrometry analysis of the trimethylsilyl ether (TMS) derivatives and obtained here as products of small scale chemical synthesis in a preliminary study on the tentative identification of urinary isoflavonoids.

Bullatacin and bullatacinone: two highly potent bioactive acetogenins from Annona bullata.

TL;DR: Screening of crude extracts of the bark of Annona bullata showed cytotoxic and pesticidal activities and identified bullatacin as a diastereomer of asimicin, while the known compounds liriodenine and (-)-kaur-16-en-19-oic acid were lethal to brine shrimp but were not significantly cytot toxic.
