Study on Anti-SSCC Performances of Several Steel

Abstract: The corrosion evaluation of 5 common steels in petroleum refining industry was performed to provide basis for the good design,proper material selection,effective corrosion protection and development of new materials for refinery process units.Constant load testing method was applied to study the SSCC resistance performance of these 5 materials in NACE saturated hydrogen sulfide solution.The result of test shows that,in NACE saturated hydrogen sulfide solution,the CF62's and 0Cr13's threshold stress value of resistance to SSCC is lower than 0.75 times of yield strength.16MnR's threshold stress value of resistance to SSCC is equal to or greater than 0.75 times of yield strength but lower that 0.95 times of yield of strength.The 0Cr18Ni9Ti's and 316L's threshold stress value of resistance to SSCC is greater than or equal to 0.95 times of yield strength.The order of threshold stress value of resistance to SSCC of different materials(from low to high) is 0Cr13,16MnR,0Cr18Ni10Ti and 316L.To ensure a long-term reliable operation of refinery process units,the materials with high resistance to SSCC,such as 316L and 0Cr18Ni10Ti,should be preferably selected.The material with low resistance to SSCC,such as 0Cr13 and CF62,should be selected with care.

Abstract: Among the factors to cause the corrosion in oil and gas fields, H2S is the most common and harmful corrosive medium. During oil field exploitation, enhancing the ability of the sucker rods to resist corrosion is the key measure of prolonging the service life of sucker rods and guarantee of safe operation of petroleum equipment. This paper focuses on the corrosion of sucker rod steel 20Ni2Mo in different concentrations or temperatures of H2S. The appearance of corrosive surface scanned by scanning electron microscope was analyzed and theoretic basis for anti-corrosion and material-selecting of sucker rods used in the oil fields was provided. The result shows that the concentration and temperature of H2S have interaction on the corrosion of 20Ni2Mo, i.e., with the increase of concentration under same temperature or with the rise of temperature under same concentration, the corrosion rate of 20Ni2Mo accelerates.
