Support for tourism: the roles of attitudes, subjective wellbeing, and emotional solidarity

TL;DR: This article applied social exchange theory to examine factors predicting residents' support for tourism and found that the models were unable to explain support fully, and proposed a new social exchange model to predict tourist support.
Abstract: Research models applying social exchange theory to examine factors predicting residents’ support for tourism have been challenged for their inability to explain support fully. Recent studies drawin...

Abstract: Experience tourism in the midst of nature, the appreciation of healthy food, which allows to appreciate, taste and experience the moment becomes the motto for the beginning of a new era. The objective of this study was to identify which actions are necessary to internalize the SDGs in the resumption of tourism activities after the pandemic. The analysis of the perceptions of public managers, private initiative, and educational institutions to understand and awaken the issues of sustainability in environmental issues, in the resumption of tourism with a demand for activities in the midst of nature. The methodology was exploratory explanatory, of qualitative analysis, and uses content analysis, the NVivo11 software was used for transcription of the videos and description of the speeches of the speakers who participated in the extension activity three webinars held in 2021, within the extension project entitled "Tourism and Sustainability - a conscious resumption", proposed by the Research Group on Policies, Public Management and Development of UERGS/CNPq. He concluded that the speakers representing both educational institutions and public and private management emphasized in their speeches that: a) tourism, b) research, c) sustainability, and d) gastronomy are currently inseparable themes. Finally, the uncertainty of the future to reassess and plan the issues of environmental, economic and social sustainability, both in the resumption and how to adhere to the SDGs in a conscious and possible to do.

TL;DR: A double special issue dedicated to methodological and theoretical advancements in social impacts of tourism research has been published in this article , which provides an overview of five key developmental stages of research within this area: definitions, typologies, and conceptual model development; the advent of case study-based, atheoretical empirical inquiry; scale design, development, and testing; further scale development/refinement and theoretical application; and theoretical model development and testing.
Abstract: Abstract This lead article introduces the double special issue dedicated to methodological and theoretical advancements in social impacts of tourism research. We begin by providing an overview of five key developmental stages of research within this area: Definitions, typologies, and conceptual model development; the advent of case study-based, atheoretical empirical inquiry; scale design, development, and testing; further scale development/refinement and theoretical application; and theoretical model development and testing. Brief evolutionary histories of the methodological and theoretical advancements of research dedicated to social impacts of tourism are then discussed. This includes a review of the most pertinent predictor variables (along with a visual display of each and key studies) in explaining residents’ perceptions of social impacts of tourism and a thorough review of most frequently used theoretical frameworks. Following this, brief synopses of the articles are provided along with key themes (e.g. resident-tourist relationships, social impacts and residents’ attitudes, residents’ empowerment, overtourism, and methodologies) and salient points of each work. In closing, we suggest numerous lines of inquiry that will continue to advance research into social impacts of tourism. Though these studies were undertaken prior to the COVID-19 outbreak, we emphasize that future work should be designed with the pandemic in mind. TL;DR: In this article , a survey of 390 users who watched travel videos on short-video platforms was conducted using structural equation modeling, and the results are as follows: the perception of video images can significantly affect tourists' intention to visit the destinations.
Abstract: This research discusses the impact of the perception of video images and online word of mouth on tourists’ travel intentions. A survey of 390 users who watched travel videos on short-video platforms was conducted using structural equation modeling. The results are as follows. First, the perception of video images can significantly affect tourists’ intention to visit the destinations. Second, as a mediating variable, online word of mouth can enhance the positive effects of the perception of video images on tourists’ travel intentions. Third, gender had a positive moderating effect, which was particularly obvious in the relationship between the perception of video images and online word of mouth. This research provides a theoretical basis for the utility of tourism-related short videos, which can help stimulate tourists’ intention to visit promoted destinations.

TL;DR: The extent to which method biases influence behavioral research results is examined, potential sources of method biases are identified, the cognitive processes through which method bias influence responses to measures are discussed, the many different procedural and statistical techniques that can be used to control method biases is evaluated, and recommendations for how to select appropriate procedural and Statistical remedies are provided.
Abstract: Interest in the problem of method biases has a long history in the behavioral sciences. Despite this, a comprehensive summary of the potential sources of method biases and how to control for them does not exist. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to examine the extent to which method biases influence behavioral research results, identify potential sources of method biases, discuss the cognitive processes through which method biases influence responses to measures, evaluate the many different procedural and statistical techniques that can be used to control method biases, and provide recommendations for how to select appropriate procedural and statistical remedies for different types of research settings.

TL;DR: This book deals with probability distributions, discrete and continuous densities, distribution functions, bivariate distributions, means, variances, covariance, correlation, and some random process material.
Abstract: Chapter 3 deals with probability distributions, discrete and continuous densities, distribution functions, bivariate distributions, means, variances, covariance, correlation, and some random process material. Chapter 4 is a detailed study of the concept of utility including the psychological aspects, risk, attributes, rules for utilities, multidimensional utility, and normal form of analysis. Chapter 5 treats games and optimization, linear optimization, and mixed strategies. Entropy is the topic of Chapter 6 with sections devoted to entropy, disorder, information, Shannon’s theorem, demon’s roulette, Maxwell– Boltzmann distribution, Schrodinger’s nutshell, maximum entropy probability distributions, blackbodies, and Bose–Einstein distribution. Chapter 7 is standard statistical fare including transformations of random variables, characteristic functions, generating functions, and the classic limit theorems such as the central limit theorem and the laws of large numbers. Chapter 8 is about exchangeability and inference with sections on Bayesian techniques and classical inference. Partial exchangeability is also treated. Chapter 9 considers such things as order statistics, extreme value, intensity, hazard functions, and Poisson processes. Chapter 10 covers basic elements of risk and reliability, while Chapter 11 is devoted to curve fitting, regression, and Monte Carlo simulation. There is an ample number of exercises at the ends of the chapters with answers or comments on many of them in an appendix in the back of the book. Other appendices are on the common discrete and continuous distributions and mathematical aspects of integration.
