Synthesis of Novel Isochromen-1-one analogues of Etodolac

01 Nov 2017-Vol. 263, Iss: 2, pp 022021
TL;DR: In this article, an anti-inflammatory drug based novel isochromen-1-one, their thio and N-methylated analogues were synthesized from the etodolac bulk drug, 1.
Abstract: In the present work, anti-inflammatory drug based novel isochromen-1-one, their thio and N-methylated analogues were synthesized from the etodolac bulk drug, 1. All the synthesized compounds were purified and successfully characterized by FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and Mass spectroscopy. All the derivatives procured are with remarkable yields from 67-72%.

TL;DR: The isolation and structure elucidation of antifungal constituents of the steam-distilled essential oil fraction of Artemisia dracunculus are described and Methyleugenol was also isolated and identified as an antIFungal constituent of the oil.
Abstract: The isolation and structure elucidation of antifungal constituents of the steam-distilled essential oil fraction of Artemisia dracunculus are described. Antifungal activities of 5-phenyl-1,3-pentadiyne and capillarin against Colletrotichum fragariae, Colletrotichum gloeosporioides, and Colletrotichum acutatum are reported for the first time. The relative abundance of 5-phenyl-1,3-pentadiyne is about 11% of the steam-distilled oil, as determined by GC-MS. Methyleugenol was also isolated and identified as an antifungal constituent of the oil.
