TLDR
Currently, most descriptions of low-energy buildings assume that the envelope acts as a barrier against energy loss, but this approach does not focus on the potential exploitation of the envelope for energy exploitation.Abstract:

Exploring the Effects of Climate-Adaptive Building Shells: An Applicative Time-Saving Algorithm on a Case Study in Bologna, Italy
Jacopo Gaspari,Kristian Fabbri +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors propose a simplified algorithm to calculate the response of an adaptive façade according to the ISO 13790 standards to evaluate the possible effects of design decisions.

Magnetic actuation of bistable flaps for kinetic building shades
TL;DR: In this paper , the magnetic actuation capability of magneto-active elastomers (MAEs) was investigated for bistable kinetic shading. But the authors focused on the effect of changing the boundary condition of bistably laminates and found that clamping 25% of their height reduced the magnetic field required for actuation by 29%.
