TL;DR: In this article, an alternative conceptualization of professional development is proposed, based on philosophical assumptions congruent with evidence about professional learning from seminal educational research of the past two decades, and an argument is presented for a shift in discourse and focus from delivering and evaluating professional development programs to understanding and supporting authentic professional learning.

Fulfilment of the Basic Psychological Needs of Student Teachers during Their First Teaching Experiences.

TL;DR: Deci and Bornstein this paper found that need fulfilment has a strong influence on student teachers' teaching experiences, especially in a non-rational way, for instance through feelings and images Thwarting of the needs appears to be correlated with images showing fight, flight, and freeze tendencies, whereas need fulfillment concurs with flow tendencies.
