Abstract
If one area manifests clinically, it can be removed by Mohs surgery, but the second, noncontiguous, area may not be found during treatment, only to appear later and be considered a recurrence of the Mohs surgery. Second, human error accounts for a 5-year 99% cure rate for primary basal cell carcinomas by Mohs technique compared with the theoretically predicted 100% cure rate. With the numerous and detailed steps for excision, orientation, mapping, preparing frozen sections, and histologic interpretation of the tissue, errors are possible and may result in a recurrence. For example, if the tissue is mislabeled or mapped improperly and persistent tumor is noted microscopically, the wrong area of the wound may be reexcised. In addition, the frozen section may contain gaps or may not include the entire surface and a false-negative interpretation made, resulting in a recurrence. Fortunately, the technique includes careful routines to minimize the chance of human error.

Method and system for controlling output of RF medical generator

TL;DR: In this article, a closed-loop control system for an electrosurgical generator that generates electrosurgery energy is described, which includes a user interface for selecting at least one pre-surgical parameter, such as the type of surgical instrument operatively connected to the generator, type of tissue and the desired surgical effect.

Immunofluorescent and Immunoperoxidase Staining of Antibodies to Fibrous Keratin: Improved Sensitivity for Detecting Epidermal Cancer Cells

TL;DR: Immunoperoxidase staining proved to be a remarkably sensitive method for the identification of carcinoma cells in both frozen and paraffin-embedded sections and when used in combination with the precise mapping techniques of Mohs' surgery permitted greater accuracy in assessing the total resection of an invasive tumor.

The Biology of Head and Neck Cancer

TL;DR: The title of the article seems to suggest that one is going to learn something of importance in the biologic behavior of head and neck cancer, but on finishing the article, I was struck with the realization that its contents is nothing more than a description of a clinical technique that has been used in the authors' institution for more than 20 years.
