TL;DR: In this paper, a monometallic assembly of composition [Cobalt(II)L-glutamate(H2O)· H2O]∞(I) has been prepared and structurally and magnetically characterized.
Abstract: A monometallic assembly of composition [Cobalt(II)L-glutamate(H2O)·H2O]∞ (I) has been prepared and structurally and magnetically characterized. Assembly I crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group P212121 with a = 7.149(9), b = 10.468(3), c = 11.295(5) A, V = 845.3 A3 and Z = 4. The crystal structure analysis reveals a three-dimensional network with channels parallel to the a-axis. The observed structure suggests that highly isolated Co(II) cations are present in the solid state structure – a fact verified by the temperature-dependent magnetic susceptibility (298–5 K) which is that of a classical, isolated paramagnet with μ(eff) ranging from 4.1 to 5.2 BM.

TL;DR: In this paper, the reaction of Cu(ClO4)2·6H2O with l -glutamic acid ( l -glu) in 1:1 or 1:2 molar ratio at pH 5 gave only the complex [Cu( l −glu)-(H 2O)]·H2

TL;DR: The X-band and K-band ESR spectra of transplanar copper(II) complexes of amino acids, whose crystal structures are now known, were measured in a polycrystalline state at room temperature and in frozen aqueous-methanolic solutions at the temperature of liquid nitrogen.
Abstract: The X-band and K-band ESR spectra of the trans-planar copper(II) complexes of amino acids, whose crystal structures are now known, were measured in a polycrystalline state at room temperature and in frozen aqueous-methanolic solutions at the temperature of liquid nitrogen. The polycrystalline samples showed a variety of ESR line shapes, most of which had three different principal g values; g1=2.04–2.07, g2=2.08–2.12, and g3=2.16–2.29. On the other hand, all the ESR line shapes observed for the frozen solutions were quite similar, and they indicate a normal tetragonal copper (II)-ion environment. There was, moreover, a remarkable difference in the g values between the complexes in the two states. The correlation among the g values, the d-d band energies, the bonding parameters (a measure of the degree of covalency of the copper-ligand bondings), and the geometrical configurations of the coordinating atoms for the complexes in a crystal is discussed in some detail.

TL;DR: An X-ray analysis of the α form of L-glutamic acid, C5H9NO4, has been carried out as mentioned in this paper, and least-squares refinement using 855 reflexions led to the final R value of 0.034.
Abstract: An X-ray analysis of the α form of L-glutamic acid, C5H9NO4, has been carried out. The space group is P212121 with a=7.068(1), b=10.277(1), c=8.755(1) A and Z=4. The structure was solved by the direct method, and least-squares refinement using 855 reflexions led to the final R value of 0.034. The molecule is in a zwitter ion form, and there is a strong OH···O intermolecular hydrogen bond with the O···O distance of 2.578(2) A. The conformation of L-glutamic acid in the α form is quite different from that in the β form. The occurence frequency in various crystal structures containing glutamic acid residues shows that the conformation in the β crystal is more stable and favourable than that in the α crystal. The transition of the α form to the β form of L-glutamic acid in the mother liquor and the conditions for obtaining the α crystals are discussed based on the crystal and molecular structures of the two polymorphs.
