TLDR
In this article, the Doppler effect results from the recoil momentum changing the translational energy of the radiating atom, and it is shown that the assumption that recoil momentum is given to the radii is incorrect if collisions are taking place.Abstract:
Quantum mechanically the Doppler effect results from the recoil momentum changing the translational energy of the radiating atom. The assumption that the recoil momentum is given to the radiating atom is shown to be incorrect if collisions are taking place. If the collisions do not cause broadening by affecting the internal state of the radiator, they result in a substantial narrowing of the Doppler broadened line.read more

TL;DR: Nanoshell arrays have recently been found to possess ideal properties as a substrate for combining surface enhanced raman scattering (SERS) and surface enhanced infrared absorption (SEIRA) spectroscopies, with large field enhancements at the same spatial locations on the structure.

Experimental determinations of the hyperfine structure in the alkali atoms
TL;DR: In this paper, the measurements of the hyperfine structure of free, naturally occurring, alkali atoms are reviewed and the experimental methods are discussed, as well as the relationships between hyperfine data and other atomic constants.

Radiofrequency Spectroscopy of Stored Ions I: Storage
TL;DR: In this article, the authors discuss the ways to develop techniques to isolate, contain in a trap, thermalize, and possibly refrigerate the atomic systems under observation by providing simultaneously a radiative damping mechanism, the trapping is made permanent.
