TL;DR: The prevalence of IA was increasing in the studied population and health educators are recommended to emphasize improving society’s awareness of IA.
Abstract: Objectives: The internet is known as an essential part of individuals’ daily life. The present descriptive research aimed to determine the prevalence rate of Internet Addiction (IA) and its related factors in Iran. Methods: In total, 1046 internet users were recruited by a convenience sampling approach. The required data were collected by an online questionnaire, including a sociodemographic data scale and the Persian version of the Internet Addiction test. The obtained data were analyzed using SPSS. Results: The current study findings indicated that the prevalence rate of IA was equal to 57.6%.The highest prevalence rate belonged to the research participants aged ≤35 years (67.5%), followed by females (61.5%), married subjects (66.7%), the holders of MSc and PhD. degrees (65.8%), and those employed in public sectors (68.5%). The highest prevalence of IA was detected among the study participants who spent one hour daily on the internet (94.7%); however, the lowest prevalence of the IA was observed among those who spent >10 hours daily on the internet (16.4%). Moreover, there was no dramatic difference between the internet access source and the IA among the research participants (P˃0.05). There was a significant relationship between all determined variables and the level of IA (P˂0.05). Discussion: The prevalence of IA was increasing in the studied population. Health educators are recommended to emphasize improving society’s awareness of IA. They are also suggested to develop educational preventive measures on increasing media health literacy approaches.

Abstract: Background and aims: Internet is one of the new technologies whose users are increasing, and internetaddiction is defined as the excessive use of internet. One of the factors that influence internet addictionis depression. The purpose of our study was to investigate the relationship between internet addictionand depression in Iranian users using meta-analysis.Methods: In our systematic review and meta-analysis, a total of 10 articles in Persian and English, published in local and international journals between 2008 and 2014 were selected through searchingin PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, SID, Magiran, Medlib, and Irandoc databases, and the informationwere analyzed using a method of meta-analysis (random effects model). I-square test was used toexamine heterogeneity. Data were analyzed by STATA version 11.2.Results: There were significant correlations between internet addiction and depression (P < 0.05).Hence the mean risk differentiating criteria were estimated to be 0.55 (95% CI: 0.14 to 0.96). Subgroupanalysis showed that the value of a university student was 0.46 (95% CI: 0.04 to 0.88) and of a highschool student was 1.12 (95% CI: 0.90 to 1.34).Conclusion: Our results indicated positive significant correlation between internet addiction anddepression in adolescents and young adults in Iranian users. There was a positive correlation betweeninternet addiction and depression as one of the most important psychological disorders. This issuerequires further attention and study.

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors investigated the relationship between internet addiction and metaphorical perception of time with students procrastination during the Corona virus outbreak in Tehran and Mashhad during the outbreak of Corona virus in 2021.
Abstract: Introduction: The spread of Corona virus outbreak has changed peoples lifestyles, and due to the nature of unlimited Internet usage in this era, the perception of time has also been changed and has caused a kind of procrastination in university students. Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between internet addiction and metaphorical perception of time with students procrastination during the Corona virus outbreak. Method: The method of this study was descriptive-correlational. The statistical population included all students in Tehran and Mashhad during the outbreak of Corona virus in 2021. To do this, 250 students were voluntarily asked via Instagram to complete Time Perception Metaphorical Questionnaire of Raiisi and Moghadasin (2020), Young Internet Addiction Questionnaire (1996) and Tuckman Procrastination Scale (1991). The statistical method was Pearson correlation and multivariate regression analysis. Data were then analyzed by using SPSS-22. Results: The results indicated that Internet addiction and metaphorical perception of time during Corona virus outbreak are related to the level of students procrastination at this time (P<0.05). Also, internet addiction and metaphorical perception of time can predict 17.8% and 14.6% of procrastination, respectively. Conclusion: To conclude, it can be said that the rate of students procrastination is predictable based on internet addiction and metaphorical understanding of time during the outbreak of the Corona virus. It is suggested that researchers pay more attention to cognitive factors such as metaphorical perception of time and behavioral factors such as internet addiction in their studies on procrastination in this period.
