TLDR
In this article, a method for estimating a frontier production function allowing economies and diseconomies of scale using linear programming techniques is presented, and three equivalent efficiency indexes are offered which measure the efficiency of alternative scale activities.Abstract:
A method is presented for estimating a frontier production function allowing economies and diseconomies of scale using linear programming techniques. The general applicability of this function is illustrated by considering the neutral and nonneutral cases. Indexes of technical, price, and economic efficiency of production of observations of equal scale are introduced. Three equivalent efficiency indexes are offered which measure the efficiency of alternative scale activities. Utilization of the efficiency indexes in determining the nature of the production function, causes of observed inefficiency, and the degree and nature of technological advance are discussed.read more

Generalized Farrell Measures of Efficiency: An Application to Milk Processing in Swedish Dairy Plants
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors apply Farrell's measures of efficiency to nonhomogeneous production functions and apply them to the Swedish milk processing industry, and study the shape of the efficiency distributions for individual units and their changes through time.

An analysis of economic efficiency in agriculture: a nonparametric approach
Jean-Paul Chavas,Michael Aliber +1 more
TL;DR: A nonparametric analysis of technical, allocative, scale, and scope efficiency of agricultural production is presented in this paper based on a sample of Wisconsin farmers and the results indicate the existence of important economies of scale on very small farms, and of some diseconomies of scale for the larger farms.

Cost curves and supply curves ..
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a graphical exposition of the manner in which supply curves are dependent upon the different possible types of technological and pecuniary cost situations, under the usual assumptions of atomistic competition and of rational economic behavior on the part of the producers.

Linear aggregation of economic relations
TL;DR: In this article, one of the most popular ways to break the boredom in reading is choosing linear aggregation of economic relations as the reading material. But, many people are not interested in this hobby.
