TLDR
The ultra-violet inactivation of lysozyme has been studied and found to conform to a first order reaction, and the relation of molecular weight to quantum yield, as well as the other findings, are discussed.About:

In Vitro Bactericidal Capacity of Human Polymorphonuclear Leukocytes: Diminished Activity in Chronic Granulomatous Disease of Childhood
TL;DR: The deficiency of bactericidal capacity and the minimal degranulation after active phagocytosis by the PMN of these children with an inherited syndrome suggest that separate metabolic processes are involved in phagocytetosis and in intracellular digestion.

Quenching of protein fluorescence by oxygen. Detection of structural fluctuations in proteins on the nanosecond time scale.
TL;DR: Quenching of the tryptophan fluorescence of proteins was studied using oxygen concentrations up to 0.13 M, corresponding to equilibration with oxygen at a pres- sure of 1500 psi, and revealed no significant perturbation of the protein structure.

The isolation and properties of the specific cytoplasmic granules of rabbit polymorphonuclear leucocytes
Zanvil A. Cohn,James G. Hirsch +1 more
TL;DR: The properties and composition of rabbit polymorphonuclear leucocyte granules seem to be analogous to those of liver lysosomes.

"Homogeneous" enzyme immunoassay. A new immunochemical technique.
TL;DR: The method constitutes a powerful new immunochemical technique for the quantitative determination of haptens and reduces the inhibition of enzyme activity in proportion to the quantity of free morphine added.

Envelope-associated nucleoid from Caulobacter crescentus stalked and swarmer cells.
M Evinger,N Agabian +1 more
TL;DR: The development of a Ludox density gradient procedure has permitted preparation of large quantities of synchronous cells and the sedimentation coefficients of the envelope-associated nucleoids of stalked and swarmer cells, prepared under conditions of equivalent cell lysis, were greater than 6,000S respectively.

Direct crystallization of lysozyme from egg white and some crystalline salts of lysozyme
Gordon Alderton,H. L. Fevold +1 more
TL;DR: Crystallization was effected from acid solutions of purified material containing approximately 5 per cent salt, and it was also accomplished in the isoelectric region as a result of markedly lower solubility of the crystalline product in that region.

Le spectre ultra-violet du lysozyme; Avec des considérations sur le spectre ultra-violet de divers acides aminés et de quelques-uns de leurs peptides
Claude Fromageot,Georges Schnek +1 more
TL;DR: The investigation of the ultra-violet absorption spectra of the following amino-acids: tyrosine, tryptophan, phenylalanine, cystine, and cysteine and some of their peptides at various pH, has confirmed the spectroscopic results previously obtained.

On the Bacteriolysis by Lysozyme
TL;DR: The bacteriolysis by lysozyme was studied by measuring the light-absorption of a lysing suspension, with a Moll-extinctiometer, and a study of the influence of pH and electrolytes found the optimal pH to be about 6.2.
