TL;DR: Potential techniques for improving the setting and retention of fruit include varietal selection, withholding of nitrogen fertilization during flowering and early fruit growth (to reduce vegetative flushing), and the maintenance of plant moisture status (irrigation, overhead misting and windbreaks).

TL;DR: Observations revealed that bumblebees contribute to lychee pollination not only because they are active in conditions that HB are not, but also because HB collect mainly nectar from the Lychee flowers and barely contact the reproductive organs, while BB collect mainly pollen and hence pollination increases.

TL;DR: Investigation included identification of the timing of abortion relative to stage of capsule development, the impact of irrigation management and other treatments imposed to alter resource allocation, the influence of the maternal and paternal genotype, and relationship between floral characteristics and propensity of capsules to abort.
Abstract: Low capsule seed set is a major factor limiting seed production in Eucalyptus globulus seed orchards. Trials were conducted in two Tasmanian E. globulus seed orchards to identify mechanisms involved in capsule abortion and low reproductive success. Key areas of investigation included identification of the timing of abortion relative to stage of capsule development, the impact of irrigation management and other treatments imposed to alter resource allocation, the influence of the maternal and paternal genotype, and relationship between floral characteristics and propensity of capsules to abort.

Abstract: The purpose of this study focuses on presenting the food and drink process in the case of making lychee juice and lychee-tea combination fruit juice in a tropical country such as Vietnam. We mainly use methods of qualitative analysis, synthesis and inductive methods, with description and explanatory methods. Authors also use a value chain approach from a material supply (lychee products) to production and market distribution.Research results show us that choosing good red lychee together with good green or black tea, esp. Lipton tea, which is produced from the region of material supplying in the Northern region of Vietnam, then mixed with sugar and ice, using little vegetables will be very good for everybody health, functioning as medical treatment to prevent heart disease, and helps men and women stronger. In the meantime, we also propose lychee and tea planting policies and capital financing policies in the country, esp. In the north of Vietnam. For instance, the nation needs to continue to negotiate with countries that have not yet allowed Vietnam’s fresh lychee to be imported into developed countries (such as Korea, ...); The state/province cooperates with donors and businesses in trade promotion activities in potential export markets for Vietnamese lychee and fruit products (Japan, Korea, US, EU, ASEAN…).

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluate the respuesta of litchi (Litchi chinensis Sonn.) a the fertiliza-cion with NPK in arboles de the var. ‘Brewster' of Oaxaca, in the period of 2009 - 2011.

TL;DR: The main constraint in the litchi industry is the short production season lead to the imbalance between supply and demand in market, due to “Hak Ip” planting too much.
Abstract: Litchi (Litchi chinensis Sonn.) was introduced from Fujian Province of China into Taiwan by immigrants nearly 300 years ago. It is an economically important horticultural crop. Now, the total harvested area under litchi cultivation is 11000 ha, roughly, and the main variety “Hak Ip” accounts for over 70% of all area. The main constraint in the litchi industry is the short production season lead to the imbalance between supply and demand in market, due to “Hak Ip” planting too much. The seven novel varieties released from Taiwan Agricultural research institute have different fruit maturity seasons and good fruit quality. Based on the policy of the “right cultivar for the right land,” cultivating them in proper ecological regions will effectively diversify/extend the production period and match market requirements. As for plant management, by means of studying the biology of flower and fruit development, researcher and grower have developed several special cultural technologies to apply for the commercial production of litchi. The current status of breeding, biology of flower and fruit development, and cultural research in Taiwan are discussed in this review.

Abstract: SummaryAvocado plants were kept in growth cabinets at 33°C day, 28°C night (33/28); 25°C day, 20°C night (25/20); and 17°C day, 12°C night (17/12), with a 12-h photoperiod and light intensity of 26000 1x. At 33/28 and 25/20 flowers opened in the afternoon as females and again the following morning as males (type B floral cycle) with some overlap of male and female stages at 25/20. At 17/12 very few flowers had a female stage, the majority opening once only as males. The duration of the flowering period decreased with a rise in temperature as did total number of flowers opening. Reproductive growth was inhibited in favour of vegetative growth at 33/28, as exhibited by smaller floral parts and abscission of buds and flowers. The rate of pollen tube growth increased with a rise in temperature, but abnormal growth was frequently observed at 33/28 and tubes failed to reach the ovary at 17/12. Endosperm and embryo development was observed to occur at 25/20 but not at 33/28 or 17/12 although a positive effect of...
