Abstract
A N U M B E R OF examination systems have been developed to record the oral hygiene status of an individual. Most systems use either selected teeth or the highest score for a group of teeth within a segment as the basis for their scores. When used for epidemiological studies or for evaluating the results of treatment in a study group these methods yield useful information. A numerical score, however, is of limited value for the clinician treating an individual patient. He is concerned with the locations where plaque accumulates and in the patient's progress in learning how to effectively clean these surfaces.

Periodontitis and Systemic Inflammation: Control of the Local Infection is Associated with a Reduction in Serum Inflammatory Markers

TL;DR: Decreases in inflammatory markers were significant in subjects with above average clinical response to periodontal therapy after correction for possible confounders, and may add to the systemic inflammatory burden of affected individuals.

Clinical and Radiographic Evaluation of the Papilla Level Adjacent to Single-Tooth Dental Implants. A Retrospective Study in the Maxillary Anterior Region

TL;DR: Results clearly show the influence of the bone crest on the presence or absence of papillae between implants and adjacent teeth, and show a positive influence for the modified surgical technique, aimed at reconstructing papillaae at the implant uncovering.

A prospective clinical study of non-submerged immediate implants: clinical outcomes and esthetic results.

TL;DR: BioOss significantly reduced horizontal resorption of buccal bone in immediate transmucosal implants grafted with anorganic bovine bone, and there is a risk of mucosal recession and adverse soft tissue esthetics with immediate implant placement, however, this risk may be reduced by avoiding a buCCal position of the implant in the extraction socket.

Treatment of Multiple Recession-Type Defects in Patients With Esthetic Demands

TL;DR: The results demonstrated that the proposed surgical technique was very effective for the treatment of multiple gingival recessions affecting teeth in esthetic areas of the mouth and that these successful root coverage results could be achieved irrespective of both the number of recessions simultaneously treated during the surgical intervention and the presence of a minimal amount of keratinized tissue apical to the defects.
