TL;DR: This paper provided a critical discourse analysis (CDA) of three parodic travel guide books about countries that do not exist but are readily recognizable and found that their humor is based on widespread stereotypes, irreverence toward the culture of others, and an attitude of placing these peoples and places out of time/modernity.
