TL;DR: The role played by the image in social psychology is discussed in this article, where a review is made of the current perspectives that are attempting to incorporate the visual into social thinking, paying particular attention to the movements called Visual Culture and Visual Research Methods, and it is assumed that despite the interest that these have, they suffer from a characteristic that cannot be avoided: they still consider that the image should support other applications and thus, it is not given an appropriate statute in the social analysis.
