Abstract: This article presents multiple episodes drawing from three distinct research projects conducted in multilingual classrooms in Luxembourg, to underscore the value of video analysis in culturally and linguistically diverse classroom contexts. We show how video analysis that valorizes the non-verbal in interaction has the ability to reveal communicative resources often masked by analysis rooted in the verbal. From the examples presented, that span teacher and student interactions in both elementary and secondary classrooms, we make a methodological argument based on analytical approaches utilized in all three research projects to demonstrate how we have come to an expanded notion of voice in our research that is revealed through multimodal video analysis. Specific analytical approaches that illuminate the embodied and multimodal aspects of voice are discussed. We conclude by underscoring the benefits of embodied and multimodal approaches to video analysis for research with all students, but most importantly for students often marginalized through analytical approaches that prioritize the verbal. Finally, we discuss the implications of video research that works to highlight resource-rich views of teaching and learning across learning contexts.

Abstract: This chapter describes our efforts toward finalizing an all-embracing workflow for a mobile seamless learning approach supporting mobile digital storytelling (mDS) for educational purposes. Considering the factors of locality, formality, and time as well as the design of the activity and assignments, we have chosen five dimensions of the mobile seamless learning framework to guide our work. In addition to the main mobile application used for mDS, we have also developed and integrated complementary software solutions well in line with the mDS framework, which support the overall learning experience. Here, we present our main three main pilot studies which have provided us with outcomes and insights on technical and methodological requirements, as well as on the importance of an active teacher involvement in order to introduce and implement ideas, inspiration, and routines from the mDS workflow into everyday educational practices. Applying the principles of design-based research (DBR) and codesign, we have collaborated closely with involved teachers and other stakeholders, devoting an extensive amount of time to introduce the five phases of the mDS workflow and the different technologies. The primary remainder of the challenges for concluding the mDS workflow will be to further refine all software components involved and to fully integrate them into one single social computing platform in which the chosen MSL dimensions and the learning activities in the different phases act as the interconnecting glue. This platform will also serve as a repository and a sharing option for all procedures related to mDS and the mDS activity outcomes.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors focus on the description of different properties in digital interactions and define the conditions print on digital discourse by interfaces, avoiding the dependence to applications, focusing on the changing nature of interfaces and artefacts that mediate the digital exchanges.
Abstract: The aim of this article is to contribute to the definition of digital discourse. Through the analysis of language samples we recognise an open list of properties related to the modality, to the communicative situation and to the relation between speakers. Drawing on the theoretical framework of New Rethoric and Digital Discourse Analysis, the paper focuses on the description of different properties in digital interactions. Attending to the changing nature of interfaces and artefacts that mediate the digital exchanges, we look to some parameters that define the conditions print on digital discourse by interfaces, avoiding the dependence to applications.

TL;DR: A structural and communicative analysis of cyberdiscourse in social networks, instant messaging applications and web forums based on the diachronic review of specialized bibliography and legal documents of conditions of use / terms of service of the said applications is presented in this paper.
Abstract: this paper presents a structural and communicative analysis of cyberdiscourse in social networks, instant messaging applications and web forums based on the diachronic review of specialized bibliography and legal documents of conditions of use / terms of service of the said applications. From the study of hypertextuality we approach network communication through the analysis of a) types and organization of profiles (identity and community); b) behavioral tendencies of the user in network communication; c) modality and online discursive formats and d) use of symbols, citation and recursiveness. A theoretical-pragmatic research that offers an updated characterization of online communication and its trends.
