TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigate the role of visual art in inclusive education and suggest that instead of assigning special inclusive powers to the process of artmaking, it is more useful to explore its agency and the way its materiality co-constructs inclusive education practices.
Abstract: The Czech Republic is experiencing an upsurge of preschool programs that promote social inclusion following the agenda of the Czech government to provide hard-to-reach children, many of them Roma, an equal access to education. Social inclusion in this context is an end-product of a social project focused on the entry of groups of children in mainstream education. This thesis examines one such preschool with the aim to better understand how teachers, children, parents and the material culture interact and thus influence the inclusive character of their classroom. Proposing three processes –communication, embodied interactions, and agency – as central to the culture of inclusion and exclusion, I argue that it is more useful to look at inclusive education as an epistemic practice, a set of processes, where specific classroom dynamics construct a specific perspective of how social inclusion and exclusion is performed, created, and negotiated. Exploring artmaking, as a particular behaviour setting, I investigate the role of visual art in inclusive education and suggest that instead of assigning special inclusive powers to the process of artmaking it is more useful to explore its agency and the way its materiality co-constructs inclusive education practices.

TL;DR: The role of reflective design in bibliotextual scholarship and pedagogy is discussed in this paper, where the authors highlight four projects undertaken by the authors that embody reflective design, including three that explore the crossed codes of print and electronic books.
Abstract: This essay describes, models, and advocates for the role of reflective design in bibliography and textual studies. Popularized by Donald Norman, reflective design promotes critical inquiry over usability and exploratory prototyping over fully realized productions. We highlight four projects undertaken by the authors that embody reflective design, including three that explore the crossed codes of print and electronic books. A larger aim of the essay is to position bibliotextual scholarship and pedagogy as design-oriented practices that can be used to imagine the future as well as reconstruct the past.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigate the use of the affordances of the blog medium, and connect their expressions to the five competencies of preschool teachers expressed in the Norwegian framework plan for this education (subject, didactic, social, developmental and ethical competence).
Abstract: This article shows how blogging was used in a course in Norwegian in preschool teacher education, and investigates how professional identity was expressed in the blogs. We investigate the students’ use of the affordances of the blog medium, and connect their expressions to the five competencies of preschool teachers expressed in the Norwegian framework plan for this education (subject, didactic, social, developmental and ethical competence). Connections between professional identity, subject content and uses of ICT are thus drawn up.
