The gelation of aqueous bentonite dispersions by organic ammonium ions

TL;DR: The treatment of bentonite clay sols with the salts of amines and amino alcohols containing not more than 6 carbon atoms gives gels of hydrophilic organic ammonium bentonites as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

The V3+-V5+ Redox Equilibrium Reaction and Magnetic Properties of Vanadium Ions in Binary Alkali Silicate Glasses

TL;DR: In this article, the ionic equation representing the V3+-V4+V5+ redox equilibrium reaction was used to represent the V4+ ion was an intermediate species, and the slopes of the straight lines obtained on plotting log against mol% R2O (R+ = Li+, Na+ and K+ ions) in binary alkali silicate glasses were approximately inversely proportional to the coulombic force between the alkali ions and nonbridging oxygen ions.

Soil minerals recover after they are damaged by bushfires

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors studied the impact of bushfire on soil minerals and the recovery of minerals under wet conditions, and found that dehydroxylated minerals and their partly rehydroxylating forms will exist in heated soils and may affect the chemical behaviour of soils.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cause of the accidents due to oxygen deficiency in underground works in tokyo area

Hisato Hayashi
- 01 Jan 1968 -
TL;DR: The cause of oxygen deficiency was studied geologically, mineral-ogically, and geochemically and accidents of this type have happened, or will possibly happen, in other Japanese populous cities along the coastal area, because they have similar geological environ-ments and are suffering from lowering of underound water table.
