Abstract: Studies on tourists crowding are developed to explore the perception of crowding, and these studies indicate crowding influence on sustainable development of tourist destinations. This study aims to reveal the influential factors of tourists’ perceived crowding. We obtained data from interviewing over 400 tourists and five senior tourism officials in Xi’an, China. This study firstly applies factor analysis to identify the constructed variables of tourists’ motivations from the principle component analysis. It then examines the correlation between nationality and perceived crowding. Consequently, a multiple regression is used to identify the connection between motivations and perceived crowding. The results of the study indicate nationality and motivation as two significant influential factors to perceived crowding management. This study also shows that management in tourist destinations would benefit from provision of the authentic travel experience integrated with zoning the travel destination.

Abstract: Geotourism as a relatively new form of tourism becomes more and more popular in the world in last years. It primarily depends on geosites (geological heritage) which identification and subsequent assessment are important steps in the process of geotourism development and protection of geosites. Based on the internationally accepted concept of geotourism, an importance of geosite identifications and assessments is undisputable, with special emphasis on presentation of geosites to the general (laic) public which interest is essential for geotourism progress. The work presents research results of criteria affecting the visit of geosites by the general public, on the example of Slovak (geo)tourists. These results represent an important source of information for planning actions related towards general public visitors. Moreover, as indicated by findings of the research, professionals and general public prefer different criteria defining geosite importance and utilization of its geotourism potential. Therefore, both approaches should be implemented in further geotourism development activities.

Abstract: The article introduces an integrated market-segmentation and tourism yield estimation framework for inbound tourism. Conventional approaches to yield estimation based on country of origin segmentation and total expenditure comparisons do not provide sufficient detail, especially for mature destinations dominated by large single-country source markets. By employing different segmentation approaches along with Tourism Satellite Accounts and various yield estimates, this article estimates direct economic contribution for subsegments of the UK market on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus. Overall expenditure across segments varies greatly, as do the spending ratios in different categories. In the case of Cyprus, the most potential for improving economic contribution currently lies in increasing spending on “food and beverages” and “culture and recreation.” Mass tourism therefore appears to offer the best return per monetary unit spent.
