TLDR
A new full-field method for the automatic analysis of isochromatic fringes in white light, named RGB photoelasticity, which makes it possible to determine retardations uniquely in the range of 0–3 fringe orders.Abstract:
In this paper a new full-field method for the automatic analysis of isochromatic fringes in white light is presented. The method, named RGB photoelasticity, eliminates the typical drawbacks of the classical approach to photoelasticity in white light which requires a subjective analysis of colors and an experienced analyst to acquire and interpret the results.read more

Images of absolute retardance L.Deltan, using the rotating polariser method
TL;DR: It is shown how the phase δ, and thus optical retardance, can be extracted from combining measurements of |sin δ| at different wavelengths, and the algorithm derived in this paper is valid not only for birefringence studies, but can be applied to all studies of interfering light waves.

Photoelastic Measurements Of Residual Stresses For NDE
Abstract: Photoelastic measurements of residual strains are used extensively in the QC and inspection of transparent materials. A new method of measurements, based on Spectral Contents Analysis, is described in this paper. The method uses a personal computer for photoelastic data acquisition, eliminating personal skill and subjectivity. the new tool should make the measurements of residual strains for QC simpler and more reliable.

An Image Processing Approach To Photoelastic Fringe Patterns
TL;DR: A differential zero crossing algorithm has been developed and the results obtained compared with those from the other algorithms, with the aid of a fringe analysis system developed to analyse output from the image processing system.
