Abstract
\n\nIn modern electrical power distribution systems, Power Quality has become\nan important concern due to the escalating use of automatic, microprocessor and microcontroller\nbased end user applications.\n\n\n\nIn this paper, power quality improvement has done using Photovoltaic based Distribution\nStatic Compensator (PV-DSTATCOM). Complete simulation modelling and control of Photovoltaic\nbased Distribution Static Compensator have been provided in the presented paper. In this configuration,\nDSTATCOM is fed by solar photovoltaic array and PV module is also helpful to maintain the DC\nlink voltage. The switching of PV-STATCOM is controlled by Unit template based control theory.\n\n\n\nThe performance of PV-DSTATCOM has been evaluated for Unity Power Factor (UPF)\nand AC Voltage Control (ACVC) modes. Here, for studying the power quality issues three-phase\ndistribution system is considered and results have been verified through simulation based on\nMATLAB software.\n\n\n\nDifferent power quality issues and their improvement are studied and presented here\nfor harmonic reduction, DC voltage regulation and power factor correction.\n

Introducing custom power

TL;DR: The concept of custom power is now becoming familiar as mentioned in this paper and it describes the value-added power that electric utilities and other service providers will offer their customers in the future The improved level of reliability of this power, in terms of reduced interruptions and less variation, will stem from an integrated solution to present problems, of which a prominent feature will be the application of power electronic controllers to utility distribution systems and/or at the supply end of many industrial and commercial customers and industrial parks.
