Abstract
The viability and vigor of pejibaye (Bactris gasipaes Kunth) palm seeds are affected by their moisture content. Below 38% moisture, germination and vigor of the seeds diminished rapidly. When seeds presented 17% or less moisture, germination was almost zero. These results indicate that the pejibaye may be included in the group of species with recalcitrant seeds.
