Abstract

Vibrational control of nonlinear time lag systems with bounded delay: averaging theory, stabilizability, and transient behavior

TL;DR: The theory of vibrational control of nonlinear time lag systems with arbitrarily large but bounded delay with conditions which ensure the existence of parametric vibrations that stabilize nonlineartime lag systems is developed.

Complexity, bifurcation and chaos in natural and man-made lumped and distributed systems

TL;DR: This paper concentrates on its chemical/biological engineering relevance, especially for reaction/diffusion and hydrodynamic processes, and restricts its attention to systems that do not change their structure during the process, so that self-organizational criticality is explained, but not utilized.

Digital simulation of industrial fluid catalytic cracking units—IV. Dynamic behaviour

TL;DR: In this paper, a relatively rigorous dynamic model is developed for industrial type IV FCC units and is used to investigate the dynamic characteristics of a typical industrial Type IV FCC unit, which covers: numerical difficulties associated with the digital dynamic simulation of this system, extreme sensitivity of the dynamics to initial catalyst activity in the reactor, effect of model dimensionality on the reliability of the model predictions, the behaviour of the system with switching control around the middle unstable steady state as well as the closed-loop system with simple feedback proportional control.

A numerical-method for determining optimal parameter values in forced periodic operation

TL;DR: A numerical approach for determining values of forcing parameters which maximize performance of a periodically forced system is described, using the model of a continous stirred-tank rector (CSTR) to solve the optimization problem.

Forced oscillations of chemical reactors with multiple steady states

TL;DR: In this article, the responses of nolinear reaction models to periodic forcing in parameter regions of steady-state multiplicity have been examined and a strong correlation between the size of the period doubling ovals of the forced system and the degree of focal, as opposed to nodal, transient behavior inherent in the unforced system was found.
