Optimal concentration of nanostructured powder in protective gas

TL;DR: In this paper, a method is developed for determining the optimal concentration of nanostructured powder in the protective gas in welding by a floating electrode in argon, which is confirmed by experiments with molybdenum nanopowder, introduced in the welding bath through a special device.

Characterization of micro structural and mechanical properties of inconel 625/a 517 high strength quenched and tempered steel dissimilar welds

TL;DR: In this paper, the difference welding between Inconel 625 nickel base super alloy and high strength quenched and tempered 517 Gr.B steel was investigated by pulsed ND:YAG laser beam welding equipment.
Dissertation

Investigation of mechanical performance and formability of welded and brazed sheet materials

TL;DR: In this paper, the deformation and forming behavior of steel-to-steel tailor welded blanks (TWBs) made from advanced high strength steel (AHSS) such as dual phase (DP780) steel.

Effect of Submerged Arc Welding Parameters on the Microstructure of SA516 and A709 Steel Welds

James Amanie
TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of submerged arc welding parameters on grain development and weld metals chemistry (oxygen and nitrogen) on SA516 and A709 steel weld metals was done. And a cooling rate parameter based on the ratio of the weld nugget cross sectional area and the fusion zone interface length (CI) was used in this evaluation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hydrogen Assisted Cracking in a Microalloyed Steel Subjected to a Rapid Thermal Cycle at High Temperature

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of hydrogen on fatigue crack growth was studied using rotary bending fatigue tests using martensitic-bainitic microalloyed steel, and cracks propagated along high-shear-stress planes.

A review on selective laser sintering/melting (SLS/SLM) of aluminium alloy powders: Processing, microstructure, and properties

TL;DR: In this article, the state of the art in selective laser sintering/melting (SLS/SLM) processing of aluminium powders is reviewed from different perspectives, including powder metallurgy (P/M), pulsed electric current (PECS), and laser welding of aluminium alloys.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dislocation network in additive manufactured steel breaks strength–ductility trade-off

TL;DR: In this article, the authors show that the pre-existing dislocation network, which maintains its configuration during the entire plastic deformation, is an ideal modulator that is able to slow down but not entirely block the dislocation motion.
Journal ArticleDOI

Critical review of automotive steels spot welding: process, structure and properties

TL;DR: In this article, the fundamental understanding of structure-properties relationship in automotive steels resistance spot welds is discussed. And a brief review of friction stir spot welding, as an alternative to RSW, is also included.
Journal ArticleDOI

Revisiting fundamental welding concepts to improve additive manufacturing: From theory to practice

TL;DR: In this article, a unified equation to compute the energy density is proposed to compare works performed with distinct equipment and experimental conditions, covering the major process parameters: power, travel speed, heat source dimension, hatch distance, deposited layer thickness and material grain size.
Journal ArticleDOI

Using deep neural network with small dataset to predict material defects

TL;DR: This study attempted to predict solidification defects by DNN regression with a small dataset that contains 487 data points and found that a pre-trained and fine-tuned DNN shows better generalization performance over shallow neural network, support vector machine, and DNN trained by conventional methods.
