Abstract: The curriculum of this program was designed to teach the execution of mission-critical projects and to help students conquer the three project environments of people, processes and strategies. The 30-unit Master of Project Management is offered in a part-time evening format for working professionals. A 15-unit Graduate Certificate in Project Management is also offered and can be transferred into the degree at any time.

Abstract: In the following work, we analyse complex project management processes and propose understanding of project management tools as a service, both when speaking in software terms and management skills frames. Project management can be offered as a service in different forms. Companies specialized in project management may manage a project for the benefits of third party, using the client’s technical knowledge and principles of work. Companies that want to manage their projects internally need project management training service and software solution with certain functionalities and characteristics. The solution must follow the company policies in regard to resources, time and cost management, collaboration etc. Due to companies’ specifics, it is highly unlikely that an off-the-shelf solution is applicable everywhere. The service of customization of an existing tool or development of a system specifically for the company needs can be also considered a project management service.

Abstract: The level of project management awareness and recognition of the standards and knowledge sharing among professionals is on the rise. Despite this many projects continue to fail. Ameliorating project failure requires project management maturity among practitioners. Project management maturity is the progressive development of an enterprise-wide project management approach, methodology, strategy, and decision-making process. To ascertain the level of maturity among project oriented organisations in Ghana the following research questions were raised: Is the concept of PM maturity understood in Ghana? What are Project Management Maturity levels in Ghana? What maturity models are in use? Are there differences in project management maturity levels in industries in Ghana? The study was exploratory in nature and utilized a questionnaire survey method to collect data on project management Maturity in Ghanaian organizations. Purposive sampling was used to select a sample of 200 managers from different economic sectors. The findings showed that differences exist in the current project management maturity levels across each phase of the project life cycle for all organisations. The study also showed that most of the practitioners expect their respective organisations to attain higher levels of project management maturity (PMM) albeit at various levels. Organisations operating in the non-profit (NGO) category exhibited relatively higher levels of maturity compared to the other categories of organisations in all the five phases of the project management life cycle. Firms in the public sector of Ghana recorded low levels of maturity in most of the phases of the project management life cycle. This may be attributed to the low level of project management expertise in the sector, with possible dire consequence to the country’s development since the public sector accounts for a large percentage of projects executed in Ghana. Overall, the findings seem to indicate that project management maturity occurs in phases; PM maturity does not occur as an event but is an ongoing process that is interlinked. The implication therefore is that organisations cannot claim to be mature in one area and neglect the other; it becomes imperative for project implementing organisations in Ghana to strive to attain maturity in all the five phase of the project management life cycle in order to attain the full benefits of the projects they implement.

Abstract: A survey was made of various types of project management organizations used to achieve some measure of managerial unity. Four principal types were identified. The project expediter achieves unity of communication, the project coordinator gets unity of control, the project confederation achieves unity of direction, and project general management accomplishes the ultimate unity of command. Furthermore, project management may disregard existing levels and functions in superimposing its own structure on the existing organization. Project organization requires a project manager with considerable role adaptability. He must balance technical solutions with time, cost, resource, and human factors. He is an integrator and a generalist, rather than a technical specialist; and he devotes most of his management time to the functions of planning and control. Both the project manager and his superiors may need to give more emphasis to the management aspects of his job. To be an effective project manager, the technical man needs to be intellectually sophisticated in the field of management and also to have an attitude which gives some priority to the management aspects of his job.
