Wi-Fi Router With Power Backup and Range Extender

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors designed a Wi-Fi setup with a backup power source of 4-5 hrs. so that even in outage of main power supply the WiFi will provide a no interrupting network and also range has been extended of about 18 meters more in Wi -Fi dead zones.
Abstract: Wi-Fi allows users to connect to the internet without the use of wires. It also allows routers to be cordless, which makes things much easier until they run out of power (power outage) or there's nowhere to plug in. When the power goes out, the internet connection via Wi-Fi is disrupted. As we go further away from the router; the Wi-Fi signal becomes weaker. We most likely come across Wi-Fi dead zones on a frequent basis. When encountering diverse router ranges, using connected multiple routers and manually connecting them. The work is designed a Wi-Fi setup with a backup power source of 4-5 hrs. so that even in outage of main power supply the Wi-Fi will provide a no interrupting network and also range has been extended of about 18 meters more in Wi-Fi dead zones.

TL;DR: In this paper , an off-grid energy Wi-Fi mesh system for remote areas is proposed, and the system is self-powered, and to ensure 24 hours energy production, a hybrid solution of vertical wind turbine and the solar cell is used.
Abstract: To transmit information from a source to a destination without interruption from electromagnetic interference, a strong wireless network connection is required. These wireless networks may be powered by direct current from a battery or a direct source. The challenge arises when a wireless network is installed at a remote location. In this paper, an off-grid energy Wi-Fi mesh system for remote areas is proposed. The system is self-powered, and to ensure 24 hours energy production, a hybrid solution of vertical wind turbine and the solar cell is used. Dedicated routers are designed using Raspberry Pi, and other supporting electronic circuitry and results are analyzed. To avoid bandwidth issues, the network offloading concept is exploited using a novel concept of power used by each node. The proposed system is portable and suitable for remote areas where grid-connected energy availability is an issue.

TL;DR: In this article , a Zigbee-based wireless S CADA system (ZBWS) is proposed for cost reduction in the industrial environment, which is ideal for industries where it is too expensive to install wired SCADA in remote locations.
Abstract: The advancement of the remote monitoring industry has become more level-playing in recent years. This means that companies can now monitor their equipment remotely, without having to be present onsite. With the introduction of wireless S CADA systems, these systems became more affordable and efficient. SCADA systems have advanced significantly in the field of process control in recent years. SCADA is a supervisory control that is very important in the automation industry. Today, SCADA is required to control the process from any distance. Additionally, the potential for additional features such as security, process parameter control, and visualization paves the way for SCADA to become a powerful tool for industrial applications. Using SCADA, the entire process area can be monitored remotely. Automatic process manipulation, warning system, and automatic report generation are huge advantages of SCADA. Wireless SCADA is ideal for industries where it is too expensive to install wired SCADA systems in remote locations. Fortunately, wireless SCADA systems offer all the benefits of wired systems without the expense and hassle of wiring everything. In this study, an innovative prototype of a Zigbee-based wireless S CADA system (ZBWS) is proposed for cost reduction.

TL;DR: This work used two NodeMCU (ESP8266 WiFi module) which is a easily programmable which acts itself as a sensor node and used RSSI technique to determine the distance between two nodes.
Abstract: The use of WiFi is now a part of each human life. Airports, railways, bus-stand, home, markets everywhere now people uses WiFi because its reliability and low-cost. WiFi is also applicable in future tech of IoT (Internet of Things). In this work we used two NodeMCU (ESP8266 WiFi module) which is a easily programmable. NodeMCU which acts itself as a sensor node can be used as Access Point (AP) or as a STAtion (STA). We used one node as a AP and another as a STA. To locate a device distance measurement one of most important issue. There are lots of technique to find out the distance between two nodes (e.g. Time of Arrival (TOA), Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA) or Received Signal Strength (RSS) algorithms etc). In this work we use RSSI technique to determine the distance. First, we take around 300 sample data (RSSI values) and find the standard deviation to calculate how much the RSSI values are spread out and use curve fitting technique to find suitable equation for estimate distance. Then, we compared the estimated distance with actual distance to find the error level in percentage. We are success to reduce the average error level up to 8.32%.

TL;DR: A Wi-Fi wireless platform with embedded Linux web server and its integration into a network of sensor nodes for building automation and industrial automation is implemented here and is shown to permit all achievable controller failure scenarios.
Abstract: A Wi-Fi wireless platform with embedded Linux web server and its integration into a network of sensor nodes for building automation and industrial automation is implemented here. In this system focus is on developing an ESP8266 based Low cost Wi-Fi based wireless sensor network, the IEEE 802.11n protocol is used for system. In most of the existing wireless sensor network are designed based on ZigBee and RF. The pecking order of the system is such that the lowest level is that of the sensors, the in-between level is the controllers, and the highest level is a supervisory node. The supervisor can be react as an active or passive. The system is shown to permit all achievable controller failure scenarios. The supervisor can handle the entire control load of all controllers, should the need arise. An integrated system platform which can provide Linux web server, database, and PHP run-time environment was built by using ARM Linux development board with Apache+PHP+SQLite3. Various Internet accesses were offered by using Wi-Fi wireless networks communication technology. Raspberry Pi use as a main server in the system and which connects the sensor nodes via Wi-Fi in the wireless sensor network and collects sensors data from different sensors, and supply multi-clients services including data display through an Embedded Linux based Web-Server.

TL;DR: This paper presents the analytically traceable stochastic models to characterize the average delay and throughput performance in wireless mesh networks, and model the forwarding mesh routers as an open queuing network.
Abstract: The wireless mesh network is emerging as a promising technology in providing economical and scalable broadband Internet accesses to communities. The backbone of the wireless mesh network consists of mesh routers, which connect each other in an ad hoc manner via wireless links. The presence of backbone mesh routers and utilization of multiple channels and interfaces allow the wireless mesh network to have better capacity than that of the infrastructure-free ad hoc network formed by mesh clients directly. A special type of the mesh routers, referred to as gateway nodes, is capable of Internet connection, and other mesh routers and associated terminal clients have to access the Internet through the gateway nodes. In this paper, we present the analytically traceable stochastic models to characterize the average delay and throughput performance in wireless mesh networks. We model the forwarding mesh routers as an open queuing network. The analytical model takes into account the mesh router density, the random packet arrival process, the degree of locality of traffic and the collision avoidance mechanism of the IEEE802.11 DCF random access MAC. Our simulation results suggest that the analytical results are quite accurate, which can provide valuable insights in system performance and an effective guideline for the scalable design and optimization in wireless mesh networks.

TL;DR: The obtained bandwidth and radiation characteristics make the double G antenna proper to be used for WiFi and 4G LTE applications in the 2.4GHz to 2.7GHz band and 5.1GHz to 5.875GHz band.
Abstract: In this paper, a “double G” textile CPW-fed monopole antenna design for dual-band WLAN applications is proposed. Return loss, realized gain and radiation patterns measurements are used to characterize a manufactured prototype. The obtained bandwidth and radiation characteristics make the double G antenna proper to be used for WiFi and 4G LTE applications in the 2.4GHz to 2.7GHz band and 5.1GHz to 5.875GHz band. Moreover, effects on the return loss for the novel design antenna under bent conditions are further discussed.

TL;DR: Monitor schemes that are able to detect and identify failures in power transmission lines by analyzing binary status information from relays and circuit breakers are developed.
Abstract: In this paper we develop monitoring schemes that are able to detect and identify failures in power transmission lines by analyzing binary status information from relays and circuit breakers. The approach, which is based on Petri net models, requires very simple calculations (linear checks) during execution time and allows for concurrent/incremental processing of the information as it arrives at the control center.
