Using this simulator, a student can take the role of a software project manager.
We conclude that software work in India is properly categorized as an occupation.
The model may provide a preliminary guidance for competencies development of entrepreneurs in software industries.
In order to develop students for successful careers in software engineering, specifically for software development, they must be immersed not only in the software development lifecycle and paradigms, but also in the workings of large project teams.
This study demonstrates how a sustainable development focus can be integrated into a traditional software engineering course.
Finally, it provides empirical evidence that HRD practices in software companies must be sound to enhance employee intention to stay and organizational commitment in India.
Other than the workforce, the environment for implementation of software projects in India is different from the matured economies.
Extending Heeks's model of strategic positioning for developing country software enterprises, we conclude that rather than following in the footsteps of India to promote export, China should focus on its domestic software services market in the near term and pursue a more balanced development strategy in the long run.
Our results show a wide variety in the kinds of companies undertaking software development, employing a wide range of software development techniques.
It is time to prove through further research and experiments that the behavioural aspects of software project management in the inhouse development centres in India still need to catch up with the practices to match the global standards as set by major software development companies both in India and abroad.
