Our objective is not to detect all possible spam phone calls crossing a carrier's network, but rather to expand the list of known spam numbers while aiming for zero false positives, so that the newly discovered numbers may be added to a phone blacklist, for example.
This study fills the gap by studying information use by poor female mobile phone users in rural India.
I conclude that rapid mobile phone diffusion creates an opportunity to improve people’s access to healthcare in rural India, but it also creates new forms of marginalisation among poor rural households.
Overall, my findings indicate that the rural Indian healthcare system gradually adapts to increasing mobile phone use at the expense of non-users.
As such attacks are accomplished through the execution of network service requests and not a constant stream of phone calls, users are unlikely to be aware of their occurrence.
This might help the carriers to reduce significantly the cost of phone calls and will turn to the users' advantage.

What factors contribute to the failure of motorola?
5 answers
Various factors contribute to the failure of Motorola. One significant aspect is the impact of a price-fixing conspiracy on Motorola's operations, where inflated LCD panels were sold to Motorola's subsidiaries, leading to increased costs and anticompetitive conduct in the United States. Additionally, the lack of tools for proper analysis and inspection of circuit boards in Motorola cellular phones can result in undetected failures due to corrosion, affecting the overall performance. Moreover, issues related to the marketing mix, including product, price, place, and promotion, have been identified as major problems for Motorola, impacting its market share and revenue. Furthermore, selective disclosure of material information to analysts before public announcements, as seen in the case of Motorola, can create an unfair advantage for certain investors, potentially influencing stock prices and investor confidence.
How does astigmatism affects gaze pattern during walking and stairs walking?
5 answers
Astigmatism can impact gaze patterns during walking and stair negotiation. Research has shown that individuals with induced astigmatism may experience distorted or blurred vision, affecting their ability to navigate steps and stairs safely. Studies have highlighted the importance of vision in stair locomotion, indicating that gaze behavior plays a crucial role in foot placement and balance control during stair walking. Furthermore, age-related differences in gaze behavior have been observed, with older adults fixating on stairs for longer periods, particularly before stepping onto them. These findings suggest that astigmatism, along with age-related changes, can influence how individuals with visual impairments adapt their gaze patterns to maintain stability and safety while walking and negotiating stairs.
What are the specific challenges faced by women entrepreneurs in finding role models and inspiration from other women?
5 answers
Women entrepreneurs face challenges in finding role models and inspiration from other women due to various factors. In rural areas, women encounter geographical isolation, limited access to networks, and capital constraints. Additionally, in transition countries like Kosovo, women struggle with balancing childcare, elderly care, and accessing finance. Moreover, societal stereotypes, gender-based discrimination, and lack of business skills hinder women entrepreneurs in Indonesia. These challenges highlight the need for support programs, government interventions, and policies to empower women entrepreneurs by providing them with role models, mentorship, and inspiration to overcome obstacles and succeed in their entrepreneurial endeavors.
What is the role of humor in promoting environmental awareness in Indonesia?
5 answers
Humor plays a significant role in promoting environmental awareness in Indonesia. Research indicates that incorporating humor, such as satirical cartoons, alongside factual pro-environmental messages on social media elicits a greater response and stimulates a reaction to environmental messages, encouraging behavioral change. Additionally, environmental accounting information disclosure (EAID) in Indonesia is crucial for public environmental concerns, emphasizing the need for corporate initiatives to reduce environmental footprints and improve information disclosure standards. Furthermore, educational programs in Indonesia, like the green school adiwiyata program, are successful in fostering pro-environment behavior among students, preparing them to become global citizens with high social concern for the environment. These findings collectively highlight the effectiveness of humor, environmental disclosures, and educational initiatives in promoting environmental awareness in Indonesia.
How can ANPR systems be adapted to being able to recognize license plates in foggy conditions?
5 answers
To enhance Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) systems for foggy conditions, a hybrid preprocessing methodology can be employed. Additionally, utilizing deep learning models like an improved version of the YOLOv4 algorithm can significantly improve ANPR systems' accuracy under challenging conditions, including foggy weather. Moreover, incorporating mobile cameras for capturing license plate images of moving vehicles, along with using models like SSD Mobile Net and EasyOCR, can achieve high accuracy levels even in foggy conditions. Furthermore, a comprehensive ALPR paradigm integrating a Spatial Transformer Network and a convolutional neural network has shown promising results in recognizing license plates accurately across various shooting angles, illumination circumstances, and complex environments, which can include foggy conditions. These approaches collectively offer robust solutions for adapting ANPR systems to effectively recognize license plates in foggy conditions.
What is the relationship between teacher salaries and the quality of education in Pakistan?
5 answers
Teacher salaries play a crucial role in determining the quality of education in Pakistan. Research indicates that increasing teachers' wages could enhance schooling quality, emphasizing the importance of teacher remuneration in improving educational outcomes. Additionally, the quality of education is positively associated with teacher qualifications, training, and motivation, highlighting the significance of well-compensated and professionally trained teachers in enhancing educational standards. Moreover, the decline in teacher quality in Pakistan has been attributed to various factors, including the discontinuation of residential teacher training, political interference, and poor general education standards, underscoring the need for adequate salaries to attract and retain high-quality educators. Therefore, ensuring competitive and satisfactory salaries for teachers is essential for promoting quality education in Pakistan.
What are the perceived impacts of technology on the livelihoods of individuals in developing countries?
5 answers
Technology, particularly mobile phones, plays a significant role in shaping livelihoods in developing countries. Studies show that mobile phones offer various social benefits such as improved communication, financial inclusion, employment opportunities, increased business and market opportunities, enhanced access to information sharing, and improved literacy practices. Additionally, the spread of mobile phones in developing regions has been linked to facilitating asset substitution, enhancement, combination, exchange, and forms of disembodiment, thereby impacting livelihood strategies. Furthermore, Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) have been recognized as crucial tools for empowering rural populations, enabling instant communication and fostering rural development processes. These technological advancements have sustainable effects on economic activities, society, education, health, and innovation in developing countries, despite challenges like infrastructure limitations and low literacy levels.
