Based on the analysis, new technique to reduce standby power is proposed.
In this paper, activation pattern based standby mode scheduling is proposed for reducing power consumption of a set-top box during standby state where a set-top box does not receive broadcast services.
The current consumption of the VDC in standby mode can be decreased by using a novel low-current and temperature-independent current source circuit.
In the standby mode, the precision of optimum body bias monitoring is improved by taking into consideration the effects of lowered V/sub DD/ and gate-oxide leakage current.
Such a tradeoff analysis can help identify optimal decisions on system mission abort and standby policies, promoting safe and reliable operation of warm standby systems.

The system provides a standby power source to overcome disruption of work in progress due to power failure.
Thus, maximum leakage savings can be expected while data is safely retained during standby mode.
In cluster system configuration with active/standby components, there may be a primary server which can be treated as active server and other servers work as standby units of the cluster system.
The results show considerable improvements in terms of the standby power as well as the hold and read SNM.
The proposed methodology can facilitate a reliability-cost-time tradeoff study in the practical design of cold standby systems, thus assist in making the optimal decision on the system's standby and backup policy.
Therefore, this paper proposes a simple and cheap solution to reduce the standby mode problem in already existing electrical equipment, preserving users’ comfort and convenience.
No single technology will address all standby power situations; however, these emerging solutions appear to have broad applicability to save standby energy in miscellaneous plug loads.

The simulation results illustrate that the proposed methods significantly extend the standby hours of a dual mode mobile
The proposed method can in principle be applied to a wide range of switched mode power electronic systems for reduction of standby power.
Findings from this work can guide the reliability design of the considered warm standby systems in practice.
Therefore, it can decrease the standby power consumption.
The results further show that providing standby capacity has a significant impact on total costs.
This approach can easily be extended to more general standby systems with different configurations.
