A data catalog is a tool used by organizations to organize and manage their data assets effectively. It serves as an indexed inventory of data and information stored across various sources, making it easier to locate specific data quickly for decision-making. Data catalogs play a crucial role in fostering enterprise-wide metadata management and data governance by providing a clear overview of available data assets and their characteristics. These catalogs help in harmonizing and integrating data from heterogeneous sources, enabling easier access for AI initiatives and computational modeling. Additionally, data catalogs can serve as metadata-only indices for research data, offering detailed access instructions and conditions for use, especially for datasets that cannot be archived in institutional repositories.
What are the historical roots and evolution of the term "technology"?
5 answers
The term "technology" has historical roots dating back to ancient Greece, where "techne" referred to skill in the arts. Over time, technology evolved into a sociohistorical phenomenon, encompassing technical devices and societal systems within a technosphere. It is defined as the practical application of cognitive theories for benefiting and advancing various fields like agriculture and industry. Technology involves the development and use of tools and machines to solve real-world problems, with a focus on design and human needs satisfaction. An evolutionary perspective sees technology as cumulative, changing through processes akin to Darwin's 'descent with modification,' leading to the spread of superior technologies through various transmission mechanisms.
How does the concept of possible selves influence an individual's identity formation and development?
5 answers
The concept of possible selves plays a crucial role in an individual's identity formation and development. Possible selves encompass the envisioned future identities of individuals, including hoped-for and feared selves, which motivate present behaviors and aspirations. By exploring these potential selves, individuals can envision who they could become, guiding their self-concept and behavior. The realization of desired possible selves is linked to personal agency and social mediation, while avoidance of feared selves may lead to introversion and rigidity. Techniques like the Possible Me Tree model facilitate the exploration of possible selves, aiding in understanding tenacity, determination, and other aspects crucial for identity development. Overall, the concept of possible selves provides a framework for individuals to shape their identities, aspirations, and behaviors towards desired future selves.
Have been influenced by the families business?
5 answers
Family businesses have a significant impact on entrepreneurial orientation (EO) processes, with immigrant family configurations influencing proactiveness, risk-taking, and innovation. Family firms, as the predominant business form globally, leverage family involvement to differentiate themselves in the market and gain a competitive advantage. The De Gruyter Handbook of Business Families highlights the dynamics within business families, including those engaging in joint entrepreneurial activities and the governance structures they adopt. In China, family shareholding ratios in listed family firms affect short-term development, with social responsibility and R&D playing intermediary roles. Family involvement in firms, particularly in Spanish wine and olive oil production companies, is linked to economic motivations for growth, with internationalization strategies influencing this relationship.
How can web and mobile platforms promote student projects and ideas?
5 answers
Web and mobile platforms can promote student projects and ideas by offering innovative solutions and enhancing educational processes. These platforms can provide features like Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for secure access, facilitate academic consultation activities between students and supervisors, and support knowledge building communities through boundary-crossing interactions for idea development. Additionally, artificial intelligence-based tools can be utilized to enhance learning experiences, such as English vocabulary tests to meet student requirements. By implementing decision support systems using data mining algorithms like C4.5, these platforms can assist students in choosing appropriate project specializations based on their academic abilities, minimizing inconsistencies and subjectivity in decision-making. Overall, web and mobile platforms play a crucial role in fostering student creativity, collaboration, and academic success.
What is the solution for the transformation of inland counters?
5 answers
The solution for the transformation of inland counters involves the implementation of Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology to enable tele-measurement for legacy utility meters like water, natural gas, and electricity meters. This OCR technology allows for secure reading through "galvanic separation" provided by optical acquisition of displayed counter values, ensuring accuracy and reliability, especially for natural gas meters. The cost-effective solution includes capturing counter displays using devices like an "ArdtrCarn" camera for Arduino embedded solutions, local image processing, and tele-transmission via WiFi hot-spots in intelligent buildings. Additionally, National Instruments software sub-systems like NI Vision Development Module and LabView are utilized for OCR and cloud aggregation of measured values, enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the transformation process.

Image2stylegan : How to edit the embedded images?
4 answers
Editing embedded images using the Image2StyleGAN framework involves several sophisticated techniques that leverage the capabilities of StyleGAN's latent space for high-quality image manipulations. The process begins with embedding a given image into the StyleGAN latent space, which is a crucial step for enabling semantic image editing operations on existing photographs. This embedding is made efficient through algorithms proposed by Abdal, Qin, and Wonka, which allow for semantic edits such as image morphing, style transfer, and expression transfer by understanding the structure of the StyleGAN latent space. Once the image is embedded, Image2StyleGAN++ extends these capabilities by introducing noise optimization alongside the $W^+$ latent space embedding. This noise optimization is key to restoring high-frequency features in images, significantly improving the quality of reconstructed images. For instance, it enables a substantial increase in PSNR, from 20 dB to 45 dB, enhancing the clarity and detail of edited images. Furthermore, the framework extends the global $W^+$ latent space embedding to support local embeddings, allowing for precise local edits. By combining embedding with activation tensor manipulation, Image2StyleGAN++ facilitates both high-quality local and global semantic edits. In addition to these techniques, other systems and methods contribute to the editing of embedded images. For example, systems that allow for WYSIWYG editing of web pages with embedded content elements enable users to modify editable attributes of embedded content in a visually accurate editing environment. Moreover, methods for embedding graphic image representations into two-dimensional matrix codes by modifying pixel values according to a matrix code image offer a way to integrate images with other data formats, minimizing visual distortion while maintaining error probability below specified limits. In summary, editing embedded images using Image2StyleGAN and related technologies involves embedding images into StyleGAN's latent space, applying noise optimization for high-frequency feature restoration, enabling local and global edits through latent space and activation tensor manipulation, and utilizing additional systems for specific editing tasks like WYSIWYG web editing and graphic image embedding into matrix codes.
